Overall it gives me the feel of personal web page.
Get an idea and stick to it, and don't try to offer everthing in one place. That just makes web sites look bad.
What's the point of the calender? It doesn't fit.
There seems to be two quotes?
Two words: Color Scheme.

1) S**** the calendar, and just include a javascript that prints something like: Tuesday, June 18th, 2000.
2) Take away the border around the quote of the day. Keep it the same as the other parts.
3) The logo needs to be tweaked a little. Right now it's a little too big, and I agree that it gives the feel of a personal homepage.
Overall I think the design is very clean and good looking for a portal site. Nice job...

I think your site is nice. But the searchbox is screwed-up.
Overall, no complains from me.

This seems really disorganized to me. there are too many things crammed onto the screen and too much competing for my attention. A lot of this stuff is unnecessary. I tend not to use portals because there's just too much information to sort through in order to find what you want. I think this is why Yahoo is so successful.
YOur "featured Services", "Channels" box and bottom menu are almost the same - get rid of the featured services. Lose the Poll and the Love Calculator - a big time portal wouldn't include something so unprofessional. ALso get rid of the quotes - pointless. I also think the World News part should be closer to the top.
All that text underneath the stock quotes thing should go too - just link to a separate page or something. DO that many people need stock quotes on a portal? I dunno - I would think that something like sports scores and personalized weather would be just as valuable.
Now for the design. I really think that you should go for something a little more unique. THis just seems really blah to mee. I like the little icons you have for "best online deals" and "featured services" etc.
Holey cow, I can't beleive you are the same person/people who did those VStore pages!!!!Those look great!! (if a little slow maybe). I would go with something more like that, only with fewer images and more text for navigation.
Now, that brings me back to the shoppinng links on the main page. Are you sure that you have the best online deals?? I don't think that you could ever be sure about that, so don't say that you do. It just seems a little misleading and dishonest to me, since you're linking to your own sites.
One more important thing - all your sub-pages should have the same basic design!

Looks much better! Still not as good as those vstore sites though... The graphic headers are just a tad bit fuzzy and the drop shadows are way too big.
I still think that some of this content could go - particularly the poll, our services, our stores (latter two linked from the channels menu)... actually everything except the directory, world news, financial info, and e-mail log in is pretty much unnecessary. If you want to highlight auctions or your stores, it might be a good idea to use graphics - they'll stand out more against the plain text page (kinda like Yahoo has along the top)
Watch your white space. Try to keep the space around each content box approximately the same (ie. There's too much space between the directory and "our stores" menu. There's not enough between the World News and the bottom menu).
The "@" bullets should line up with the text better. What happened to the little sun icon you had before? That was my favourite! The red star isn't working very well - it doesn't stand out enough against the blue background.
I really like the new logo. The blue background works well in this case too (it's often hard to make coloured backgrounds look clean and professional). Much better!

I like the new yellow headers - they stand out more than the white ones did. They're still a little fuzzy though - actually all your graphics are looking a little fuzzy to me.
Forgot: I like the shade of blue you've used. Blue is generally an overused colour on the web, but the shade you've chosen is a little more daring and unique than what we usually see.
I like the idea of using fun icons. You should probably have one for each header. Isn't that thing you have beside "Channels" often used as a symbol for recycling? (or recycleable etc.). I also think that the text for the directory should be bigger - that's what this site is all about so it should stand out more.
The next step, of course, is to get a template done for the rest of the pages. I like the idea of using a dark background on the front page and then white on the rest (as long as the basic design is the same). All you'd really have to do is replace the logo (and get rid of some of those horizontal rules)

I made some changes to the subpages now, ( it's visible if you do a search) am I going in the right direction?

Here's a review of the sub-pages...
1) The corner graphics for the top table aren't aligned correctly with the top. There is like a 1 pixel different. Also- the color blue isn't the same.
2) Some of the text in the content area is too close to the edges of the table for my taste.
Here's what I think you should try. Use the same design as the frontpage, but make a white content area with rounded edges. Then keep everything else the same including the blue background color. Get what I'm saying?

You have to fix your bullets. Either get rid of the standard bulllet or the graphic - don't have both. I like the little graphic ones - they're cute and they'll make your site stand out. It would be neat if you had a different one for each category (a ball for sports, a file folder or breifcase for business, a monitor for computers etc.) You could probably use CSS to use a graphic for a list bullet - it wouldn't work in every browser but it would be easier than having to put in separate graphics all over the place) On the side menu, the indent from the UL tag needs to go - use CSS to change the left margin.
I don't think the design is quite right here. Jusin's idea sounds good.
One more thing - the horizontal menu with home, email, forums etc. needs to be fixed. The dark blue is hard to read against the lighter blue, and the space between each word should be the same.
