I've just started a site at http://members.lycos.co.uk/techtalk/phpBB2/

Now many of you have given me good advice for this and I think you but I've decided to go on with the project as I have nothing to lose. I'm looking for any suggestions whatsoever. This is the first time that I've gotten a review so anything and everything will be appreciated.

Especially, what sections there needs to be in addition but anything else is fine.

Also, number 2 is how I should promote this site. I don't think that banners is suffice (the last ones that I made got Click Thrus but I don't think that they were enough. I'm willing to advertise but I need to know in what ways.

Thanks as always!!!

Ambrose

Have you submitted the site to the search engines yet? The free ones?

I think that side bar ad is just awful. I am on an 800X600 and that makes the site a real pain to navigate and read. Oh well, it is gone now so never mind that.

There really is nothing here to critique, it's just a default template for a forum and on freespace with Lycos you get very annoying adverts!

Well I've loaded a few mods, and I was wondering more about the catagories which ones can go and what's needed? I'm still a bit off from launching the site yet.

(Adverts? I thought they had fixed that problem of getting 6 adverts. only supposed to be one now... Let me know if it's still there, I'll fix it temporaroly myself)

Hosting on a free site won't work.

I suggest you take a look at some of the other forums out there like yours and you will note they don't use organizations like tripod.

The site looks very good though, I see a few posts and that is good. You are on the right track. I like the colors but they are very similar to other forums around. Don't be scared .... go for it.

I think that you could vertically compress the header area. The logo is much larger than it needs to be. This would help to bring the guts of your site up higher. I do like the overall color scheme. Makes me feel nice and calm.

It's a good idea. We've seen from sites like keen.com that online tech support can work as a business model but. You are going to have to put much more time and energy into coming up with a site and idea that offers something different or better than what's already out there.
