Review My Site: www.projectefed.com
wasabi!
My site has actually been open for over a year, but recently on the sites ONE year anniversary I redesigned it to what you will be reviewing. Just looking for some feedback, good / bad and the ugly, I am pretty open to comments.
Thanks ahead of time.....

Hi Brian. Welcome to TWF. We do ask that you review at least three other sites here in the Critique section before receiving a review on yours.
Looks like you have a nice site here. I will check back later and post my opinions.

Alright, what happens here is that I get what looks to be a splash page with a pop-up on top. Then the splash page automatically loads the forums page. The problem is that I couldn't get the pop-up out of the way fast enough to see the splash page. I think there was some sort of explanation of what this site is about on there but I didn't get a chance to read it. Something needs to be done about this. I would probably lose the splash altogether and put that information elsewhere. Either that or get rid of the reload and allow the user to enter on his/her own. That way you could get rid of the pop-up as well and just have links to both parts of the site. I am confused as to why I have two windows here.
I do like the graphics style you've used here. Really neat cityscape kind of look - I wish I could see more of it . Does this relate directly to your topic though? Your site is about eWrestling which I don't know too much about but I from reading here it seems to be about wrestling video games. I think that you should use a graphics style that properly represents your site. I'm also confused about that bulls-eye type thing in the upper left corner. Is that a wrestling ring in there? That could be clarified a bit.
The main page is a problem because when I maximize that pop-up the design is still stuck in the pop-up dimensions. You could either reformat the design so it scales or set the pop-up to it can't be resized. I would probably choose the former. I also feel that your font size is a little on the small side, but maybe I'm just getting old I am also getting a little space in Opera 6 between the navbar graphic area and the little trashcan there. Otherwise the design looks great. I like the way you've used some different angles throughout the deisgn here - it makes things look much more intersting than they would have been otherwise.

I too like it but agree with Megan that the design and subject don't really flow together and I too was confused by the two window approach. I too would just have the one window with the choice of where to go.

well, it seems like you probably want to open the forum onLoad, so... - I'd say you may well benefit from trying to make the site more friendly in general to first-time visitors - like what was mentioned about an opening paragraph to say what the site is about - and yeah, you can see there's scrollbars to get to more links on the front page, but is this exactly "easy to navigate?"

I'd loose the splash page and make the forum the pop-up, first time I viewed the site I just killed the pop up, as I thought thats all it was.
If people only want the forum then they will book mark the forum page, otherwise send them through the index.

Ouch! Didn't like that...
Talk about in your face adverts! You want to make that a pop-under instead of a pop-up, in your face, my monitor just exploded, etc...
K, killed the window!
Hmmmm seems to be a lot of green going on here, you may want to tone that down a shade..I like the logo in the top left but I'm not sure about the rest of the top....
Nicely laid out forum and loads pretty quick too, however when you get into the forum list the create topic link at the top right seems a little blurred as its in bold. In addition you may want to alternate the row color for each of threads, if poss, just to break it up a little.
The green scroll bar background is also a little harsh so again you may want to tone that green down a bit...
Overall, not too bad!

Never, ever open two windows on a site. You are most likely to (a) confuse, (b) make angry, (c) all of the above. I really despise it when someone tries to make me run through their hoops and use the window that they opened, and the scrollbars that they have. And then the ultimate insult, I am told that I can't use the browser that I want to use. I don't like it. Overall the site is designed well but after spending a few minutes on the site, I still have no idea what it is about. That is bad, people should know about your site in the first sentence or two.
I would advise you to make your site more compatible with older NS 4.7 browsers or have a redirected page. I would also advise you to rethink the pop-up window. And finally to tell who you are/what you do.

Hey-
Nice site. Not sure I like the seperation of the main site and the forums, though. I'm not a fan of popup windows flying all over the place.
Your site does seem crisp... you might want to re-organize your article listing for the columns. They kind of run together.

Everyone's right about the pop-up. I'm at work and try to keep my browsing as obscure as possible. Pop-ups are destroyed ASAP! What was your site about anyway? Without the pop-up, it looks like some kind of wrestling forum.
You must catch the surfers attention within 3 sec.'s, reason why Nuke is fading. Too much info.!!!!!!!!!!! Can't read fast enough, must move to next site, need input.

I like the design, although I am not sure why every post has the same green blocks next to it. Just me.
I'm pretty sure this is a specialty site for ewrestlers so it probably isn't neccessary that everyone that surfs by need to know exactly what the site is about. The people that are into ewrestling will know what the site is for.
I think that the about and contests sections might look a bit crowded with all that text. Just seems like a lot to read and web users have this tendency to skim read everything. Maybe they could use some subheadings to break them up a little besides the paragraphs that are already there.
