I don't even know what your site is. That is the main thing I would add to your site first!

keep in mind i just start the site 2 weeks ago please
i want a non graphical site like my favorite site,gamefaqs.com

i need suggestions on what to put for more substance like forums or something

it took me 20 hours to get all these good links, its a rigorous screening process,i could have had 5000 links if i didnt care how good they were and if they work or not

i think making more DHTML java scripts is a good idea
let me know of any idea for new DHTML stuff too

I think that what Brooke means is that there's nothing here to indicate what this site is about. I could look at the page title but I really shouldn't have to. there should be some sort of title or logo here to set that out.

I also think that those links should be in some sort of order, and should provide some more information about what exactly you'll find on that site. You could also program some sort of a rating system for each link.

Don't be afraid of adding some graphics and other design elements. If done right graphics and such won't slow your loading time by much. That gamefaqs site, for example, has a couple of small graphics and makes use of coloured table backgrounds to provide some visual interest.

Welcome to TWF Kevin. We do ask that you review some of the other sites here that other members have posted for critique
.
if it just a page of links that you want...well, you definately have that. This is what I would add/take away if I were you.

1. you need a logo
2. you need an introductory paragraph telling what the site is and what the purpose of all those links are.
3. loose the thingy at the bottom that changes page background color.
4. tell me what that thing is at the bottom of the page where you can enter a web address.
5. loose the scrolling text at the bottom of the page...it is totally unreadable.

1 = i think this is a good idea
2 = i give a page worth of info on my site in the scripts
3 = huh??what is wrong with it,it gives more interactivity to the user
4 = its a pseudo browser, you can type in any URL into it and it will send you to that site,it is convenient,i didnt bother with my full browser script cause that would include frames
5 = huh??its easy to read, what browser are you on??

and also your reply to disaster-masters comments.

When making web sites a few things to remember are:
just because you can, doesnt mean you should.
your making a web site for others, not for yourself.
Content is king, naviagtion is a must and something else about image.
simple and clean is sometimes better.

The scripts at the bottom are to hard to follow, very jumpy (this is on IE5), bad grammer (small i's, no spaces after commas ...) and would be better off as plain text. I cant even read it, I try read the second line and it jumps up and over then shoots along the page.
you need a logo for sure, add a small paragraph why this site is there and what it does, by the name of the page I would of guessed it was to do with pokemon, but looking at the links appears to be gamesite links? you need to make it clear what the site is about.
Its good that your watching the size of your sites contents, but maybe a little to closely, you could go up to 40kb and it would still load in good time (depending if it was all text, graphics or whatever).
heres a few things you could look at doing:
take a look at other sites like yours (content wise),
why do you like/dislike them? (use something similar to the bits you like)
is their site easy to work out where everything is?
do their colors clash, do they have a theme? a icon, mascot?
do they use things like polls, forums, update sections, site news, about the webmaster?
get all this info, make it into a site, then remove all the bits that arent 100% related to the content, whats left should be your user friendly web site. Smiling

had a quick peek at your html code, you have an extra 'body' in the body tag and an extra above your links table, these can cause browser problems

Welcome to TWF Kevin.

Firstly please help others by looking at their sites and posting your reviews of their sites, this also helps you as get ideas and by reading through what others have said about the other sites will also give you an insite into what people like/dislike about sites. Secondly, the comments made here are personal views and are not made to slight anyones site or personal tastes.

If this is just for your personal use then fine but if you want it to be used by others then you do need to think about design and colours rather than just I can do it so I will. You definitely need a logo and I would not have the table borders showing as you have for the table of links. You need to come up with a nice colour scheme, I doubt if many visitors will bother to change the background colour themselves, especially when doing so doesn't actually improve the readability of the links or text.

The scrolling text at the bottom is both hard to read and badly written and if it's about the aims of the site (I didn't stop to read it all as it bugged me!) then that should be the first paragraph at the top of the page under the logo. Did you realise that by changing the background colour to white you actually loose the text as that doesn't change colour, although the google search looks much better as it looks awful on black as it has a white background itself.

Sorry to sound harsh but if you are serious about the site then you really need to think about design and what visitors to sites like.

I am quite quite new, but from what I see just looking at it as a surfer, its too cluttered your eyes do not know where to go first.

Hey man,
if this page is for your personal reference, then it's fine.

If this page is for anyone else other than yourself, you need to start over. It makes absolutely no sense and I have no clue what the hell this page is. Sorry to be so blunt, but the average web surfer is very lazy and does not want to have to hunt around to figure something... out.Confused  Confused

Erm Ok...

This is gonna hurt so hold onto your hat....

From what I can tell this ite has no ryhme or reason. It just appears to be a whole bunch of link plastered onto the page.

I think I can figure what you are trying to achive as a directory portal for gaming sites but the way you have laid it out is pretty awful.

You might try to break the navigation into chunks, ie. SNES, NES games, etc,

The average user would come across this site and be totally thrown as way too much text hits you in the face and then jumps on your eyeballs with that lime green Smiling

Step 1 - Get some navigation in there..

Step 2 - Add a few graphics to help break up the page

Step 3 - Do some on the colour scheme...

Sorry to be harsh but it does need some work...
