We are looking for a review of http://www.mozdex.com

1. Cross platform support - look good and present well on windows, linux, OSX?
2. Any glarring spelling/grammar mistakes.
3. Search results - presented in a good & understandable fashion?

Performance won't be the best just yet, however we are looking for feedback on the site, presentation and layout to make sure we aren't breaking any browsers with the tables and such.

thanks!

Looks okay, a bit simple for my liking, but it's fine. Search results is good, clear understanding of what type of sites they are, whether it's ads, featured ones, or the results. How do you get back to the search engine page when you click Add URL?

I agree, its very simple. I know thats the look many search engines go for, but this is a little too simple. Maybe extend the border across the whole rectangle instead of just the left?

I think a simple design is more or less essential for a search engine (though see kartoo.com for a the opposite approach which, in their case, works very well). After all it was the stripped down approach which led most of us to abandon Altavista, Yahoo etc for Google.

I would prefer the sponsored links to have an area of their own on the right rather than take up vertical real estate which is more precious in your case.

Loads quickly and search/submit operations seem snappy.

Good luck!

Have you moved servers yet? I'll give you some thoughts on what you've got so far.

LOVE the logo, LOVE the little alien guys. You've got a great identity going here, very catchy. Did I say that I love the alien guys? Smiling They're so cute!!

One big problem here is the links that don't look like links. Use some CSS on those! You might even be able to get away with a very simple tabbed interface there.

Results page - links should be the same colour as the logo blue (instead of default blue). More shoudl be done to visually separate sponsored links from real search results. Maybe a shaded background would be appropriate. On doing a simple search I'm not happy with the results. If you want to compete in such a competive market you're going to need to do better there.
