Check it out men. Javascript actually used to it's full potential Smiling

atari.com

(Ya I know the red links on the red background are a bit hard to read but that is how they wanted it).

Give me some feedback.

I'm not totally clear on what you wanted, but I'm guessing it was a site review... As such, I'm moving this post to the web site critique area.

Overall, it does look pretty good... except for, as you mentioned, the red links. I'm not sure why they would possibly want it that way, but I would strongly suggest that you advise them against it.

Men, eh? I guess I won't bother with a review then Wink

Since you originally posted this in another forum, I will ask that you take a look at the posting agreement for the Website Critiques forum. We'd really appreciate it if you could follow those guidelines when asking for a website review here at The Webmaster Forums.

I find it incredibly pointless. The javascript doesn't degrade at all (so users without it cannot use the site) and it doesn't work a lick in Opera.

Of course, I'm a woman. Javascript actually used to its full potential. I don't see how that's true when the site fails to function without Javascript. Javascript should augment a site, make it smoother, faster, easier to navigate, amazing, what-have-you. It really isn't a success if the site is unusable.

Other than Javascript, the site doesn't fit widthwise at 800x600, and it cuts off the text instead of letting the frames scroll. Since you are using Javascript, it was necessary to reload the page once I resized the browser to view all the text.

You have Javascript errors in the "news" whatever you call it when it's not a page, link.

When on a page, if you click the link you just get a timer, nothing happens. It would be better to make it so there is no link to click.

"Questions and Comments" isn't viewable at 800x600.

The game profiles are hard to read and smack of marketing hyperbole, and are not engaging. I'd send those back to the copywriter, and include some larger screenshots and better descriptions.

P.S. Do not center all the text (news items). Also, you have it so it's impossible for people to link to specific games/news, which means that link popularity will suffer, as will general ranking of the site with search engines. Add to that the difficulty of reading the text/links in the first place and I'd say the site doesn't meet the goals.

Opera6 - as mentioned nothing shows up

NS4.7 cant read the text as the right edge is cut off, looks like the bottom maybe as well, javascript error as well parent.Show is not a function.
JavaScript Error: http://www.atari.com/main.html, line 1:

NS6 - page loads, click a link and the contents disappear

IE5 text is cut off again at the right on 800x600

probably wouldnt be a bad design if it worked and fitted the screen, one thing you do need is a back link thou, very easy to get lost in there, also "mainpage" should be named as "home"

Other than the aformention cross-platform compatability issues, I like it except that I don't really understand what Rocks means and why some seemingly random band, Hoobastank is featured on Atari's webpage. Maybe you should mention that they do the music in an upcoming game (if thats the case) or something.

Something is wrong with the biops.

As a site it's ok (but then I'm a woman too!) but I don't like the colour combinations and it has so many drawbacks as mentioned above that it really defeats many objectives of having a site. This is why so many sucessful sites thesedays are very plain, simple and easy to use by everyone!

Its great in my opinion, one of the few flash sites I'm fond of(I assume your using flash)

Archbob -- that isn't flash. Flash would be better, because it would adjust to the resolution of those using it and not remove the ability to see text at lower resolutions.

Ironic, that.

i have 3 problems with it. One is as everyone else has said the red links and two is the link to "archive" on the "rock" page takes u to a page with nothing but an image down the left side on it and thridly its a tad hard to navigate and know where exactly it is u are in the site

I shall not fear no man but god, though I walk through the valley of death...shed so many tears.
