I've redesigned my web design site, and am getting ready to launch it on Wednesday. I have some tweaks I am still planning to implement before it launches, but I would appreciated any feedback you guys have.

I'll start off by saying that this looks a lot better than the old one. Much more sophisticated looking and more refinement in the graphics.

It still does need a lot of work. The logo is not really a logo at all - it's just words in ordinary sans serif text. You might want to do some reading on logo design and even consider hiring someone to do a proper one for you. A good logos are vital to the success of any business. Branding is important and the logo is a key part of that. Oh, wait, that circle sumbol thing is part of the logo??? It doesn't look like a compelte unit here. The text is very separate and I was confused as to what was part of the logo and what wasn't.

The graphics here are quite nice but rather dated looking. I remember doing a mini-site with bevelled graphics like that somewhere around 1999. This sort of thing was really popular then but you don't see too much of it now.

I like that you have an actual real photo on the front page rather than a boring old stock image. It looks much more personal. The three images underneath are a little problematic - the screenshot one just doesn't fit in so it should probably be swapped with a photo type image.

Quote: We can even updated the site

Watch the spelling and grammar!

Oops! Boss just walked by, better get back to work.

Oh, just quickly - those ball shaped icons (remember all those horizontal rule and ball graphics that were floating around on free graphics sites around 1997????? Oh, that brings me back!) are not a bad idea but as a user I don't know what they mean. I have to mouseover, but then the pop-up box obscures the icon. It would be better just to set this out in plain text rather than trying to use cryptic icons.

Thanks for the feedback, Megan. I was actually thinking of swapping out the three images underneath with a graphic that had a quote from the client pictured. Then the picture and quote could rotate out with other clients. I'll have to launch with just two if I do that, but can accumulate more on new projects. At least where the client is willing to both be in a picture and give a testimonial.

I am going to be using that circle symbol as the logo, but I'm receptive to any ideas on how to have a version that incorporates the name if the company. I haven't really liked how the text "T&S Web Design" has looked on this version either.

Man I always hate to hear things that I know are right but totally throw out hours worth of work... If I change the ball shaped icons to text, do you think the little explanations should all go on a seperate page, or what?

As Megan said, this is TONS better than your current web site, far more professional-looking for sure. I also agree with her about the 'logo' part, just arial or something, placed into it. Couldn't the 'T&S' part go inside the main part of that circle in the logo? I think it would look more balanced then. Obviously, if that logo appears on stationery then that isn't possible. The three images under the photograph of you with a client, it might be an idea to maybe add some kind of a randomizer script in there so you get different combinations of images/links each time.

Portfolio Page - At first, i though the orbs with the mouseover descriptions was a really good idea, but then when you get onto page 2 of the folio, it looks like overkill cos there's so many for each site. I still think they are a good idea, but maybe not too accessible. If that mouseover doesn't work on all browsers for example, then the icons mean nothing. They also aren't as accessible as a paragraph of text highlighting the features. I applaud you on the original concept though!

The featured site part at the bottom of the pages doesn't look quite right i feel, the title with the orbs either side would look better if the silver continued to the edges on both sides of it, as it is it kinda looks like it hasn't finished loading. Maybe you could have the titles of the Featured Sites too, under the thumbnails or maybe using that mouseover box effect you had on the portfolio orbs.

Are you going to be adding any rollover effects to the links? Currently they use the standard blue/purple which really turns me off from sites these days. It's like, you spend ages creating the site to a high standard then have the default links in there.

Definitely a big improvement Smiling

Lol! The three images actually are pulled in randomly.

Regarding T&S in the logo, I'm fine with having a variation of the "normal" logo on the website. In other words, it could appear without the words on the stationery, then with them on the website. I may try it how you mentioned.

I think I will be swapping out the orbs in the portfolio with text. That should make it a lot easier to understand at a glance.

Thanks for pointing out the lack of rollover effects for the links. That completely slipped my mind! I'll probably tweak the colors, too.

What exactly is the logo? It looks like a computer mouse that has been bent, as if looking into a globe. I actually kind of like it, but I think it would be better if you could incorporate it into the banner more, rather than sitting where it's at and get overlooked, like I did until Megan said something about it. (what a run-on Sticking out tongue)

I don't really get the three images at the bottom on the main page. What is the point of them? As someone with no clue coming in and seeing them, with no rollover text or anything, it's very risky. The only thing that we know is where this link is taking us, but we don't know what this page will be. I'm sure you could add in some rollover text or something, if you do keep them. I personally don't see the need, plus they overlap the bottom of the body section so that gradient gets cut off. I think taking those images out and aligning your photo in the middle would look much more appealing and simple.

I like the navigation and rollover sphere effect. It's very simple, yet shows that you know how to do something that they might be interested in. If your site displays innovative and neat things (without cluttering it or having a lot of extra stuff), it will show them that you know what you are doing.

I can't think of much else right now, but I'm sure I will later. Wink

this is quite short for now im out of town... teeeheeee...

hmmm. Logo problematic, I think i looks more like the head of a phallic symbol (I asked my GF what he sees in the logo and thats the 1st impression, the 2nd is a bit light its like a wireless mouse)

second, you really like the powder shadowy white buttonized effect dont you, (Ive used that on my site before and here are some comments I get: "make the shadow effects a little subtle, and all white all shadow is kindof boring") Next the pictures and texts were commented so that needs a little work,

Good point: Hey it looks like your bblog and your main site at least looks uniform now...

Nice site- clear, plenty of info and well designed and presented.

A couple of suggestions: I find that the gray boxes on the home page don't really fit in with the style of the page, and look a bit out of place. Maybe try changing the gray to another colour?

Also, the bullet points in there could be hyperlinks, maybe. Users may like the look of one of these services and may want to quickly jump to that section of the site.

Just my opinion, hope it helps.

Good luck with your company!
