Publisher Database
Hi all. My site is here:
http://www.publisherdatabase.com/
It is just launched, and actually still in beta until the end of March. But that is why I wanted to get your input -- while it is in beta, there is a test account you can use, so you can try all the member-only stuff. This is the info:
username: test
password: beta
You can also create a "real" account (they are free) if you wish, but maybe only do that if you expect you'd really use the site.
Tell me what you think of any part of it -- the layout, the colors, the features, the missing features, bugs, anything.

Hi
Looks fine. A few things that stuck out for me:
- rounded corner would look better anti-aliased
- text size of Home vs Welcome seems switched
- more whitespace between the rounded borders and the text content would improve things to my eye.
- "Publisher Database design and code is copyright 2005..." is the small print of the site - ie: doesn't require reading everytime. Maybe make it physically smaller than the rest of the text to de-emphasize it?

It's kind of hard to figure out what the site is about at first. I don't really like the color scheme either. I'm not a big fan of green. But, that's just my opinion.

Peter, thanks for the feedback. I can't control the rounded corners, as that is CSS, and is up to the browser implementation. However, I have added whitespace as you suggested, and I have reduced the size of the copyright text. Thank you again for the good advice.
Matt, I have rewritten the home page to explain what the site does. I hope this addresses your concerns, and I hope it improves my site. Thanks!

I agree with the previous posts although this is my preference.
Don't really like the colour, a bit boring
It took a bit of time to figure out what it was all about.
Otherwise fine
I'll be back

Nice job and great concept on Publisher Database. I like the idea that you can do all the regular steps of literary publishing online. What would be cool is if your site could hook up an artist's work to all the major offline publishers (Puffin Books, Virgin Records) to get artists noticed, but thats a long way off . Thanks for letting us log into the control panel and really see what the site is about.

Thats a cool site. Will be useful for people trying to get their writing published. I tried to log into the members area using the name and password you gave but i couldnt for some reason...said invalid password. I agree about the color. I dont like that green but thats just me. Nice site.
