ProgrammerMeetDesigner.com
Hi, I finished Programmer Meet Designer (http://programmermeetdesigner.com) last week. It was a site for programmers and designer to find each other and work together. A couple of days ago I added entrepreneurs and content writers to the list of people who could join.
So what do you think of the idea, the design, and the implementation? What would you change to make it better? Any feature suggestions?
Thanks for your time!

The basic design is okay but there's not much here to catch attention. You need something colourful and centrally placed on the home page to highlight what the site is about and why someone should join. Read this article:
"Great Homepages Really Suck"
Right now it is very bland and uninspiring. I supposed I might join this if I really needed it but I wouldn't be too excited.
Another problem is the mismatch between the colour schemes in the header and body areas. The header has a nice bright saturated green but the content area is more dull and unsaturated. I like the birghter colour better. Mixing it with other bright colours would be good (try blue maybe). I also find the larger unbolded text for the headers to be a problem. It doesn't fit the look and feel of the site (that would work for a very light look and feel but that's not what you have). Put the bold back on, make the font size a little smaller (I think, see how that looks) and put some of the margin back in while you're at it.
Not a bad job overall. I'm sure the programming is very good but you need to market it a lot better.

Thanks for the feedback. I'd read that article before (it was great =).
I'll experiment with your suggestions today to see if I can make it look more appealing.
Thanks for your time.

Much better! Very modern looking. I'm not quite sure since they're so similar. I'm leading towards the second one though... the shadows add just a pinch of sophistication.

How about this one:
I changed the icon colors to make it more vibrant and to differentiate between programmer and designer.

I'm not sure about the colours... it kind of makes me think that all programmers are male and designers are female due to the strong gender associations with those colours. Personally I like the logo below of the two you posted above:
On your site, the logo has "{;'}" coming from the programmer. Is HTML/CSS really a programmer thing? I would class it more as a designer thing. Perhaps a shebang line would be more suitable i.e. "#/usr/" ?

It actually says {hi;} not {;} =P
And I really like the current logo on the site (and so do quite a lot of people). So I'm going to keep it for a while. Also, I'm very busy with the feature requests to I don't really have time to work on a new logo.
Thanks!

Andy - that's what I thought about the pink/blue on the sample posted here. I like the yellow that's on the site much better
I think more work needs to be done on bringing the rest of the design up to the quality of the logo (I belive someone at digg mentioned this too!)... but first things first

Last night, I finished release 3 of the site. Tons of new features, including:
* Sexy new skin (at least I think so)
* Skill level — filter out the jobs that are too hard/easy for you
* Now when you accept an offer, you can still see all the other offers
* Email updates: you can have "us" email you everyone a new message gets delivered to your inbox
* Fixed tagging system
* Better (read: works now) RSS feeds
* Multi-search: search for people looking for designers and entrepreneurs (example) at the same time.
* User search: find other users on the site
* A lot of bug fixes
Check it out (http://programmermeetdesigner.com) and tell me what you think!
Thanks.

hey.
Functionality - all links work, images load quickly
Informational - lots of information offered
Ease of use - navigation is easy, intuitive,
Simple graphics - graphics load properly
Legible text - excellent size for font, good contrast
things i like...
i really enjoy the tabbed navigation at the top
i like the colors you chose
i really like the fonts and colors in your logo/banner...except for maybe the logo on the left...not sure but i am not too fond of the bubbles. the rest is great.
things i dont like...
the location of the adds.
perhaps add some more contrast between job advertisements...to be able to better differentiate the jobs
have the tags higher on the page..i'd rather click a tag than enter search criteria.
good work

Hi, I agree with the above comments. I'm not to keep with the adverts. Also i find it hard to see each post. I think diffurant background colour between each post would help.
Part form that I like the concept of the site.
Well done.
