Hi All

I'm currently trying to build up my skills by developing a design for Mozilla Firebird

I've tried to keep things very simple, the content is just their for show at the moment so don't pay attention to that.

The work in progress page can be found at:

http://www.xcandy.co.uk/fire/

To learn design more I have started another dummy site which can be found at:

Joe's Fishing Supplies (it's a fake company)

http://www.xcandy.co.uk/fish

Thanks in advance

I think you should finish your site before presenting it to this forum. I don't know what to say.

It looks good. The header area is a little plain. The image that is right above the "Home" link bothers me because it does not link to anyhing.

Are you going to sell that site to them or something?

It looks good but, like caregiver commented, I think you should finish it and them let us all know. I don't understand why the top images have to link to anything on websites. They usually link to the same page, i've noticed on most.

May I ask a stupid question (like the comment under my name implies)? What's Mozilla? I know its a browser and I've heard its good, but is it really that good?

And if you are going to try to sell it to Mozilla, have you done something like this before? Just wondering.

Hi

Thank you all for your comments, no I am not planning on trying to sell it to Mozilla, I just wanted to created a dummy site about anything just to build my skills up a little. I do also think the header needs something doing with it.

jd777wolf:
Mozilla Firebird is an awsome browser and I would never think of going back to IE, the extensibility of the browser is huge. I highly advise you trying it out:

mozilla.org/products/firebird/

Thanks again for all your comments.

Hi again

Thanks for all your comments, I shall be updating the firebird site soon so you can see the changes I have done since your comments.

To learn design more I have started another dummy site which can be found at:

Joe's Fishing Supplies (it's a fake company)

http://www.xcandy.co.uk/fish

It's a bit more graphical than the firebird one. All comments greatfully accepted.

Thank you

Nice designs. I have no problem reviewing an unfinished site. It actually makes more sense to review it unfinished in the usability world. Finishing some thing that is flawed is why we have so much software that is poorly usable.

The sites both are clean. Nice logos. I particularly think the way the F in the firebird logo resembles a wing in a nice idea although I think many would miss that. I think logo needs a little more work. Sometimes good ideas like this work out sometimes they don't. The text next to the logo "Joe's Fishing" needs a little more contrast or maybe a drop shadow?

Better designs than many "professional" sites.
