If this is your very first site then you'll go far, looks very professional.
I think you need to define the links more, they dont actually look like links until your over them.

Its a little slow in loading, and also a little jumpy.
it seems your site was made towards IE, in netscape 6 the mouse overs top left corner dont work, well the mouse overs work, the drop down doesnt and the table cell divider lines are on every second one, where they are every one on IE. the page contents also sits a lot lower in Net 6

I also looked at it using Netscape 4.7, the top ornage line doesnt line up, the top left section is a few pixels lower than the actual bar, the mouser overs and drop down works, well its there, it doesnt slide down like IE does.

the a:hover doesnt work in Net 4.7 so none of the links are underlined or look like links, the font looks like its times new roman.

alignment wise IE and Net 4.7 look similar, except the top banner in Net 4.7, Net 6 has a different look.

a few things but not much, keep it up, you'll go far

Very nice site. I can't believe this is your first attempt! Very professional looking but I agree with Busy that the main links need to stand out more.

Can you help us out by reviewing some of the other's sites in this forum please, a fresh pair of eyes is always good and you obviously have a good eye for design.

No way! This can't be your first site, you must be lying Wink I don't believe you (no, I'm just jealous Smiling).

This looks fantastic. I can't believe it. The only thing I can think of to add is page headers for the different channels so people know which one they're on. Excellent work!

Smiling well i'm not lying, i'm a college student which starting to have an idea to build a site like this, and finally i learned some php and a little bit of designing, i'm still learning though.

Add a clear spacer the height of the mouseover images on the background section.

you have an image in there already but doesnt have width or height tags, also the p align ... isnt closed, if you dont need the space the p gives you, use align= in the td tag.

Also putting it on the same line with keep the table tight in Netscape.

oh and dont be sorry for asking questions, if we dont ask, we dont learn, theres no such thing as a silly question, just a silly answer.

Not too bad. You should add alt tags to all of your images. Some Linux Nerds still use Lynx to view webpages. The alt tag helps them figure things out a bit more. A few other things that might not appeal much to the Linux only crowd are the IE only things like colored scrollbars, mouseovers, etc. Normally I wouldn't worry about it but some would not like it much.

It looks very professional and clean. Some of it looks quite like SourceForge in spots but better.

Be careful also when you talk about Slackware

Quote: Slackware seems to be favorite among "cutting-edge hackers" who like being close to the operating system and hardware--we did not use it so this is hearsay. We would have trouble recommending Slackware for Linux newbies. Says Bill Staehle: "The real 'reason' for a newbie to avoid Slackware is that it is much more command line oriented, and lacks some of the 'cutsie slick and drool' tools that the other distributions have."

I run it on my server. The main thing that's harder is the install, since you have to use Fdisk or CFdisk. There are no rpm's which is a good thing IMHO. But I digress.

The code could be cleaned up a bit to remove some of the deadspace towards the end.

That's about it.

add border="0" to the table the top-bg01 background is on, netscape has a different default to IE, Netscape uses a default of 1, IE uses 0

if you always want tight tables, always use border, cellspacing and cellpadding = 0 (all three)

Nice looking site...great info. One suggestion...it would be nice if your side panel text was one font size larger. Of course, I'm on an 8 by 16" screen. Roll eyes
