Hi all

I have a couple of sites I would like you to look at and maybe give some opinions:

staging.freelance-developer.co.uk

and

freelance-developer.co.uk

The staging site is a site I am redeveloping for a client. The site has existed before but it was built using tables and had no CMS. So the site is now table-less and fully CSS and I have built an XML (as there is no DB) based CMS, so far only the text is updateable. Today I am creating a theme selector for the site. The problem I am finding with CSS is getting a good clean and valid way of doing the mouse overs for the images, any pointers?

My freelance-developer site was on here before but I have made some major changes to the look and feel. And I was just hoping for some pointers.

Muchos Gracias in advance!!

Have a good day

I really like this, its nice & simple, but a couple of things;

the links at the top with the block fill of colour, to me, dont look good. try inverting the colours on hover or something

the box that is justified to the left of the page at the bottom looks out of place.

Other than that, good

it's clean and simple - perhaps too simple.

I take it your target audience is UK freelancers? I used to be in this category of users before moving overseas (blamed the tax regime changes for contractors Wink ) - and at every step I had some kind of broadband where it was available to me.

I like fast - but not "plain" - and I think your design is so simplistic, that it's "plain".

just my 2 pence...

OK cool, thanks for the comments. webyourbusiness, how do you suggest beefing up the design? I don't want it to be too heavy, keeping the clean aproach but I do want to make it more astheticaly pleasing. Any comments on the staging.freelance-developer.co.uk site?

Thanks

I REALLY like your website, and your smart to. The charity promos are great! Youve got a nice site going there. I dont LOVE the pics on the main page, that would be the only thing i noticed

I agree, I think that I will spend some time changing the home page to look like the rest of the site but funk it up a little and make it CSS not tables. At least this way, it validates better if not looks better!! Thanks for your posts, can you keep them comming?
