I would appreciate any reviews on BabyTrophy.com

http://www.babytrophy.com

A few words in advance:

This is a site I built for my mother who knows little or nothing about the Internet. She decided to save 5.00 a month by having Geocities host it against my advice.

I personally do not like the wasted white space on the homepage, but she was adamant about having the logo over the picture of the trophy. She also wanted a counter, which I personally feel is unprofessional, especially when Geocities can give her stats.

In short, there are some basic design flaws that I can do nothing about, but please tear the rest of the site apart.

Thanks in advance,
Deborah

Hello Deborah,

Cons:

I'm personally not a fan of white backgrounds, nor the repeated images of the babys on the LHS.
The baby photo page was cute, but apart from the parents I couldnt see many people visiting to look.

Pro's

For a "semi" commercial site its straightforward and easy to follow, I liked the heading inside the coloured cubes, to me that spelt babies just in the use of that, Very nice.

Summing up, it's short & sweet, but needs some ooomph.

I love white backgrounds, clean fresh and go with any colour scheme Laughing out loud

The first image of the trophey is somewhat large but if mother says that's what she wants.....

The site is very easy to navigate and the colours certainly give that baby feel so I don't think there's much to change here at all. The only thing I'd say is that on my screen the babys down the side start again on the right but are cut in half.

Why are the pictures in the gallery gifs? By making them gifs & not jpegs the quality is severly reduced and they look blotchy!

Things I Liked:
I have to agree with WebMistress, I love whitespace and finds it lends itself well to any colour scheme. I liked the idea of the baby blocks spelling out the title...catchy and cute. Nice simple design.

Possible Improvements:
Maybe the body text could be a matching/complimentary shade of blue to blend in with the existing colour scheme. This might sound picky, but the baby in the repeated pictures down the left side of the screen looks a little unhappy...a smiling baby pic might be more effective. And the pictures in the gallery could be thumbnails to increase the loading time of the page.

Overall...nice site...well done Smiling

Hi,

Liked your site. I agree that there is not much to change. The logo links to home - I'm happy!

Just a nitpicky thing. The font used for the byline under the logo - could this be changed? Just that it isn't as clear as it could be. And there is a spacing difference between the lettering (particularly between the 'o' and 'n' of 'one'.

Looks good!

A males view ...

I think the white does it justice, white = clean somehow related to babies and napies and things, however I think the background image takes a lot of professionalism away from the site, the award looks very professional but the background image looks like a kiddies site, meaning made by kids. maybe use a more modern pic or just change the colors of that, pink, purple, blue and green?
the baby blocks title looks good

The layout (apart from the background) is great, has the info, the links, hmm I just noticed there are more links at the bottom of the page than the top, this could be confusing to some.

Overall looks good, but I'm a male without kids so what do I know lol
