To all who read this:
www.greatertoledofc.org
Our website is going to go under many major changes this summer. Right now I want people to tell me what they think. It is a soccer club, and instead of having to ask parents who would give very uninformative details with little help at all and not understand the committment it takes, I would rather ask you guys for your advice and info. I also have a few questions to raise too.

Couple questions. Are tables the way to go to make sure every thing is aligned correctly?
Our Colors are Blue and White. Any suggestions with those colors in it to make it lighter?
Other ideas for the website?
How about for the Individuals Teams pages, how would i make updating them easier instead of having to update each individually. Do style sheets work with those, and if so how do they work?

Thanks.
JT

CSS and xHTML is geenrally the best way to go for design now, but it does take a certain level of experience. It's a different design paradigm from the old tabled layouts so it may take some getting used to.

Use white as your base page background instead of black or blue.

Definitely learn stylesheets. Also work on your graphics skills and get a better logo done. If you want to use the one on the front page it needs to be better quality. Go with a white background. The idea to use red as an accent colour is good, although you might want to change that to orange or something to brighten things up some more.

No, stylesheets are only for presentation. There are lots of threads around here about how to do this - look in Web Authoring, I think there was one in there quite recently. Or do a search.

I think that this site is very good for it's purpose. I do agree that for usability reasons, the background should be white instead of black as Megan stated above.

But, as far as layout goes, you have done a great job (especially if you are not a professional designer). The site is very easy to navigate, and filled with good content.

The design could use a little work...but I have seen far, far worse. You should be very pleased with the work you have done on this site.

There are a lot of ways to automate updating content. You could use PHP includes, or a content management system like WordPress, Movable Type, or Macromedia's Contribute 2. Personally, I use a combination of the above on several of my sites. WordPress has some terrific features, and is extremely easy to install...but MT has a more active support community.

Nice Site !

I think you should not have a white background for your entry page and the logo can be bigger. Maybe you should have a color theme for all the pages of the site.

Good Luck !
