Hello all.

Could you please take a look at the new layout I am working on for FlooringGuide.com. This time around I have more time, since it won't be launched until January 2001.

I am mostly interested in layout issues with navigation secondary (since this will change as we get more info).

Any comment would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Bob,

I figured I'd take a look. I almost didn't because of the topic; I don't do floors, but I've been in construction for way too long.
Keep in mind I am a novice: I thought it was cool. I didn't read any links (see above), but I think it is a pretty good design. You've filled up the whole page, used small sections of text, and given order to the whole thing. That it what I am striving for in my thought process. For me, that is the hardest part (coding is easy).

Overall it's very nice. Clean look and good colors.

I would consider changing the logo though. It's a bit "jagged" (you should anti-alias it). Also the slogan underneath the logo should have a different look then the buttons on the right. You should have people recognize your buttons easily and not get them confused with navigation elemets, IMO.

Also, about the nav menu on the left side. I don't like the fact that it's aligned to the right - looks a bit strange I think.

No problems. Just as mentioned the logo is a bit jagedy. One other thing, the top colors look similar to CNET's colors.

I have to admit I have trouble with images. I tried to make them small so that they load quickly and in doing so, I guess I use too few colors when I change them to gifs. I usually use 8-12 colors and this must cause the image to become jagged. Maybe I will post in the how to do images forum to learn how to do this better.

I appreciate the comments.
