I like the colors, and how you have the black table borders, but here is how you can improve:
1) no pop-ups
2) better/more graphics
3) more content
I noticed you have alot of ads, and not very much content. I guess your site is new, but if you want to compete with bigger free sites, you need to have tons of resources, and lots of categories. Also, you should put a graphic logo on each page.

Well for a start 2 top banners is one too many
There is no real content on the first page, and though the site elooks neat it has a distinct lack of colour/variety.

I receive over 1000 uniques a day. And the site is about six months old. I'll take off the second banner on the main page. But the popup might have to stay. Do you think it would be better if I took of the pop up and inserted the newsletter at the bottom of every page?

First...there's nothing more annoying than those popups....
and ur kinda doing it on purpose, so you CAN get rid of it.
you hardly have any kind of content as far as explaining ur site is concerned
c'mon... i'm sure you can come up with something
get more stuff connected to those links... you can't have TWO freebies for webmasters
its so unfair lol*
