Can someone critic my website?

What do think of the design?

Welcome to TWF DZ,

We do ask that before you post your site for critique that you help out some of the others here and give a review of their sites. If you do this for us please.

I'll check back on your site in a bit as I'm having difficulty connecting to it at the moment but I think it's my isp rather than your site.

Well you'll learn lots by reviewing other sites and reading through the comments others have made about them!

Changed thread title as per the Posting Agreement

In Opera 6 I'm seeing a big gap between the title bar and the content sections (between the line with the date and the "register" section).

Okay, you really have to fix up this code. There are two complete sets of Meta tags in here! That's likely the problem. And I see three tags! Oh, of course, FrontPage did that. I would highly recommend that you switch over to a better quality page editor, such as Macromedia's Dreamweaver. Or better yet, learn to code yourself.

Now, looking at the site in IE, I'm finding that this is really, really cluttered. Now, this could be a personal preference but I find that it's a lot harder to find what I'm looking for when every single link on the site is on the front page. That's just too many options to comb through. A better idea would be to have only the top-level options linked on your navigation menu, and then link them to directory pages listing the content of those sections. Think of your site structure as a hierarchy - top level - home page, next level - major sections of the site, next level - sub-sections of the major sections etc. You might want to read up on information architecture.

Oh, and another thing - you don't need to put anything and everything up on your site. Does a site about filipino culture really need a tool to search US zip codes? There's also a lot on here about building a website. It seems to me that you really ought to focus more on one subject rather than trying to do it all..

Another thing I find is that while your site title says something about filipino lyrics, trivia etc., but your logo and branding don't really support that. More should be done to give the user an immediate impression of what this site is about.

"Your Definitive Online Resources" - why in the world is that text getting progressively smaller. It looks really bizarre.

So, anyway, if it wasn't for all the (IMO unnecessary) clutter, I think this design would be fairly good. You've got a fairly decent colour scheme and some nice headers and navigation links.

Megan, thanks for reminding that error code. As I said on my previous reply, I'm new to web design and have not yet viewed my site in different browsers. This is my first designed and I don't know what came to mind putting everything up on my site. I could split my site into 4, with different topic. But that's not what I want having 3 or more sites to maintain. That's why I came here to get help for people like you. About the code, I did not pay attention to it.As soon as I get extra time later today, I will fix it. Anyhow, that's a personal homepage.

Thank you!

Well, what you could do is do something like what Amazon.com does with the tabs across the top - it's all one site, but clearly divided into different sections. Each section is colour-coded (books are green, DVD's are purple etc.) to clearly distinguish them from each other. That's an idea, anyway...
