Please review Comical Reality www.comicalreality.com
I just re-designed my site for the 3rd time. Each time obviously was an improvement. I would appreciate some feedback on the design of the site and don't hold back. I am new on the design side and want to learn so criticism is helpful to me.
Thanks,

Hi,
First, congrats on having a website.
The popup menu works, but it is kind of annoying. It would be easier to have the navigation right on the page and not in a popup.
I know your site is about comical stories, but personally they take a little too long to read for my own taste. The content seems to be orginal however.. which is really good.
More content is always a good thing.
One last thing, the main image may look better if you can take out the white flare.
I hope this helps you.

Welcome to TWF and thank you for reviewing some other sites
It took a little while to load, that big text graphic should be text, since you are using a lot of keywords on there that will help search engines rank you.
Your naviagation is a little unclear, your directions say "pop open the stories window" but I can't find it. ok found it, keeping all your links together would be easier, like on the top, have home / contacts / stories / store or something
Having the pop up menu is a bad idea, more and more people these days are using pop up killers and/or disabling javascript, so these people wouldnt get to see your menu.
The site has content, thou some of it hard to find, the images are a bit thrown together (sorry for being harsh), I think you need more of a theme going, keep the font colors to a minimum. not sure what your using flash for, it prompted me to install flash plugin but I never do. apart from the top banner/logo the rest should realy be all text.
I'm not to keen on the Comic Sans MS font but I guess its kind of fitting for the subject matter

Boy do I know the feeling.
I think a white background would look better. The black doesn't really have that "comedy" feel to it and sorta kills the effect you are trying to make.
I also think you are using too many different type fonts at the top of the page with the logo, tagline and navigation buttons. Maybe a plainer looking font would be better for the nav buttons instead of the decorative one.
As for the story menu....I would add another navigation button and call it stories and then have your story links listed on a "stories page". You could also provide a brief description of each story next to the link or a highlight of the story. (just an idea)
Oh, welcome to TWF!

Welcome to TWF,
I totally agree with what's been said so far, expecially about the pop up navigation for the stories. I thinka white background would be better and where you have the navigation at the top make that a complete blue block rather than just the three images as it looks like the background is missing. You also need to pad out the main table so that the 'What is this' and 'How does this site work' aren't right up against the left hand side. Good start though.

Actually, seeing Comic Sans MS for the first time in months on a website is quite refreshing
Your biggest problem is with the menu system. I like to get my 8 year old neice to test out sites for me. Now she DID finally see the pop up menu part but it did take her a little longer than usual.
Maybe having a standard menu to the right or left, or even better a spilt menu one on the right and one on the left as well, just a thought. Also having a sub menu for the different stories may be a good idea for your visitors. You can split them into long reads and shorter reads.
The site layout looks fine to me, a little tweakng like the rest of the peeps said, but its your menu thats going to be the thorn in your side
It isnt easy being this tall....

I made some of the changes recommended on my last review recently. The site changed dramatically and looks better for it. I thank you for your comments. Now, I want another review to see if there are other was to improve this site other than graphically. I am graphically challenged so that will always need improvement on my sites. Anyway, take another look if you can. comicalreality.com.
Thank you,

Better. I don't think that the navigation link rollovers work though, as they just look somewhat odd and the page your on looks strange being a different colour to the rest of the background. Maybe just look at changing the colour of the faces on mouseover. I think that it would also look better if you had no margin at the top of the page.

the store onmouseover image is larger than the default which is making the whole line of links move left when mousedover.
The poll: Honestly I think you need a better question, (on home page) but either way dont use a input box for a rating, use radio buttons or a pulldown box and poll on storie page, offer dropdown list as people are lazy and wont type in long story names, or could type in rubbish or a script of sorts.
keep up the good work

Definalely an improvement.
Do you mean for your links at the top to be blurry on mouseover?

Good job!
Personally I don't like comic sans - I don't think that it looks right on any site except maybe a kids site
I would make the top and left margins 0 so the blue is against the border.
