Please Review art teacher website
hello,
i am working on a site for an art teacher, the only functional pages are home and about us. i would like a way for the top and bottom bar to stretch the whole page, do you think that would look good or leave it as is. also the customer wants each link to have a different color top, side and bottom bar. he also wants limited pictures to keep the site quick as most of the people he teaches have dial-up internet

All the links do not work, besides the resume page. But the site is done quite well and for what its worth, the yellow theme is good in my opinion. Its good to see a fellow Torontonian using these forums too.

I like the look and feel of this site. At first the logo being at the left and links up top look a little weird but yeah I like it.
Not sure on using different colour pages (like about and home), that yellow combination goes well with the art work as it's a brightish/natural colour but isn't fighting with the art, the green however might.
Fits 800x600 screen perfectly, for bigger though you may want to center the main table (if not already), I'd leave it fixed as you have it. If anyone moans tell then to go look at all the skinny CSS layouts that only use 1/3 of the screen.
I'd take the 'email' link off the top row of links, you have it at the bottom, which you really shouldn't, make the email adress into an image or it will be sucked up by harvestor bots and you'll see nothing but spam.
Apart from that, the only thing I can really fault is the use of only using HTML and not XHTML (get rid of the font tags etc).
Keep it up

Hey, nice look! Very clean looking while still nice.
However, if the info@ email address at the bottom is Barry's main email, I would relocate it to some sort of contact page. If it's a webmaster type email, then you might make it just a tiny bit smaller.
Also, you might consider centering the whole page. Not sure quite how that would look, but it wouldn't hurt to try it out.

Waste of time? If you think your time is that precious perhaps you should not visit this forum........
Heres a couple things
1) I like the set width. Its clean and gets to the point.
2) Maybe a little more graphics
3) I like the idea of color themes for the different pages, just try to keep the tones the same, nice and warm. But keep the styles the same to be consistent.
4) Get into using CSS and avoid the tags
can't wait to see more progression
my 2 cents.

It looks clean with relaxing colors.
You know by now most of the things you should do.
I have one comment regarding the font, I think you should change it.
It is my opinion.
Keep up the good work

Lex, you must have not read trackit's rude and unhelpful comments. I believe projectpete was just responding to trackit's rudeness.
Projectpete, trackit is the exception here, not the rule. You'll find most of us helpful. At least, we try to be.

Tim. I defintley read trackkits rude and unhelpful comments because thats what I was refering "waste of time" to. But trackits original post is GONE! if someone deletes them, they should specify so others replies will make sense.
Once again ..... can't wait to see more progression

My mistake. You didn't specify which of them you were talking about, so it sounded like you were talking about the last one to post.
Glad the post got deleted, though. It was not helpful at all.

Hi,
I like the site. Great colors. Like that they are different on each page - unique. For us "oldies" larger text size would be great. I know not all of the pages are functioning now, but when I went to one of the pages, the Home link was grey'd out & I couldn't move back.
Just one more thing - you should warn the user that the resume is a PDF file. Adobe is such a hog that it really clogs up the works when it's loading.
Hope this helps - please post again when you are further along.

I as many here liked the loy out.
I like links that change color when you mouse over them. So i believe that some css would go well with this page.
Paste this in the between the You can play with the color # till you get the colors you want.
A:link {color: #000000;} A:active {color:#A4A442;} A:visited
{color:#000000;}
a:visited {text-decoration: none;} a:hover {color: #FFFFFF; text-decoration: none; } a:link {text-decoration:
none;}

Hi - went back to check again. Links are all good. Just a few teeny fixes: pdf file for the course calendar is not indicated as pdf, on the gallery page the "farm" pic enlarges to "bird on a wire", and the directions are so tiny that I almost just about can't read them.
Now, this may not be important to you, but I was told either in this forum, or another, that having your email address in the clear opens you up to spam bots. Here's a website that talk about that: http://www.u.arizona.edu/~trw/spam/
Just a consideration...
The site looks super!

Ah, very very nice. Love the color changes. Great layout and easy to follow.
Tried some of your internal links and they weren't working...well in the sense that they went to a page not found site. Also the visited links did not have any style once clicked.
Sounds like from your previous posts that you are new to CSS. Here's a site to help you:
http://www.w3schools.com/default.asp
This is how I set my links up in CSS in an external stylesheet:
a:link { color: #232f8d; font-weight: bold; text-decoration: none }
li a:link { color: #232f8d; font-weight: bold; text-decoration: none }
a:visited { color: #232f8d; font-weight: lighter; text-decoration: none }
li a:visited { color: #232f8d; font-weight: lighter; text-decoration: none }
a:hover { color: yellow; font-weight: bold; padding-bottom: 0px; text-decoration: none; }
li a:hover { color: yellow; font-weight: bold; padding-bottom: 0px; text-decoration: none; }
a:active { color: #232f8d; font-weight: bold; text-decoration: none; }
li a:active { color: #232f8d; font-weight: bold; text-decoration: none; }
Other than that, it's a cool site!

Only thing I would advocate adding would be maybe some a:hover action on the top links. Other than that it looks good!
