Planet Diaz
Hi guys so here I am looking forward for you to critizice my website. To make a brief description about the website, Planet Diaz is a programming community. Or at least that's what I am aiming for. The whole idea is to have a place where we can find ALL we need to get us started in programming, or for those who already know, updgrade their skills. I know this is a very difficult task to accomplish but I will try my best to get the best I can from it. Well no more talking here is the link, go ahead and tell me what do you think, feel free to critizice, that's what I need.
PS: I am currently working a banner/header, so please try not to look there

Something wrong with the right side of the page in Fire Fox. Every thing in the middle is not in the middle, text is overlapping the right panel.

Could you show me a screenshot? I think I fixed it but I want to check from someone else, thanks.

Hmmm looks good, pretty much looks polished and corporate, generally it looks like a site ready to be in business, I feel that theres a drupal (CMS) feel to it which im not sure works for the front or not... I like the shade of blue reminds me of MicroSopt (snicker...) Anyways Works, but I guess you need to make the fonts bigger and the forum and blog link titles more prominent than it already is... Just my .2 though...

Thanks Demon for your comments, well no CMS...lol I hate those things. I decided to do it in that layout because things are more organized in that way. And since the whole idea is to create a community for beginners and professionals, I had to find a way to make it easy to navigate and go through it so no one gets lost. I am still working on some things out right now, like adding a rating system to the articles, also comments, and a login system. Registered members can see more tutorials than simple guests. But I am new at PHP so I am having a hard time doing the whole thing, so this might take a while. I might finish it next week maybe, I am puting so much work into it, you guys have no idea

I like your logo. I also like how you pack a lot into your navigation panels on both sides of the page.
I have a couple suggestions though:
Seems to be a lot of "dead space" around the page, like in the header at the top and the bottom/middle of the page. I suppose the banners are responsible but maybe you can arrange them horizontally at the bottom and "tighten up" the look by removing the white space. I've never used ads so if it isn't possible to rearrange, I'd remove them or fill up the rest of your page with keyword-rich content. Maybe place the most recent article in it's entirety under your forums/blog/submit links and then link to your latest articles underneath.
Aesthetically, the color scheme is good but a little boring. It could be better with maybe just one more contrasting color in there. More interesting graphics up top could do the trick too; maybe move your link graphics up there? If not, add a couple breaks for space in between the descriptive paragraph and the links, this will make it easier to digest for the eye and seperate the 2 distinct areas.
Check for grammar in the main paragraph.
Overall, nice site.

IMO blue sites should never use blue links, unless it's a site about the smurfs.
Your first paragraph is "p>Welcome visitor ..." looking at your code (You sure do have a unquie way of doing HTML) I can't tell if it's a typo or meant to be there, but is there encase you missed it.
That center section isn't right, at 800x600 it's all squeesed together and not very readable, also a little confusing as the topic heading is usally at the top.
Your pages need a link to the top or some navigation at the bottom, even a 'next' tutorial link
You should keep your site true and correct, there is an article about resizing an image with php, is a major no-no resizing with width and height tags, php does come with GD and other libraries to resize/create images on the fly. One bad tutorial like this would put me off a site like this.
Also some of the tutorials are done with upper case tags, XHTML is all about lowercase

Masthead should stand out more. Needs a layer behind.
Otherwise, excellently done.

Good looking site, easy to navigate, easy to understand. I guess the banner will make the header better cuz it's a lot of empty space ATM. I don't know if you need the black background, it just makes for too many borders/backgrounds around the header. Logo is good I like it.
Where did you get the clipart images for the forums/news etc? They're quite good.

The clipart images are from YZDock icons and png icons I have found everywhere. Thanks all for your comments, I am working right now on a banner, I know that the one I have now sucks! lol

All I can say is "thanks"...I've already used your site. I would like the font to be a bit larger but that might be just me...at 46 things don't look as clear as they do at 19. Very good site. I was wanting to find a site I could really critique but it won't be yours...too good. I did notice you haven't correct the p> but I'm sure you will.

Being a "newbie" myself I went to your page to critique and while I was there found some info that was useful to me for designing my site and even saved it in my favorites. I've just been designing with HTML and CSS for about 1 1\2 years and decided to design a e-commerce site for my son (WesB86).
I got my site critiqued here and they were extremely helpful. So in turn I was wanting to return the favor.
Best regards,
