Pembrokeshire, anyone know it ?
Hellooo,
Ok, well I have built a site a while back, and have recently re-designed it to be more.. colourful ?
It's is a Gateway/Portal/etc. for my area/county.
Anyway, here it is:

Any comments would be greatly appreciated, expect the bad ones of course j/k.
Cheers, Marc

Hmmm.... I'm not entirely keen on the yellow and green look, but that could be because it reminds me of my public school (those were the school colours). I also feel that the logo should be re-done, or at least re-saved. It looks really fuzzy there and I'd like to see something more interesting in there, like maybe an arrow to sybolize "direct".
THe explantions on the left side navigation about the directory, forums, ads etc. should be left aligned not centered... actually these could be removed altogether since those labels should be pretty self-explanitory.
I like the way this portal is nice and clean and organized. A lot of them try to fit too much onto the page, which just makes things confusing. I was checking out the new http://www.canada.com site the other night for example - that is just a mess!

Hi Megan
Thanks for taking a look, the green and yellow. Well it was originally just green, but there was just too much of it, so I tried to add some .. happy, soothing kind of a feel to it. I thought the yellow and green went nicely together, so Im am hoping it's a bad case of the school days for you
I have just redone the logo, I can't tell the difference between fuzzy and not fuzzy so I don't know if the new logo is any better. I also wanted to keep the logo easy to read, and to the point, so although an arrow is a good idea, im not sure if I like it. I will ask a few people though and see what they think.
The descriptions for the navigation, well I needed to fill some room, so I thought that might fill the space for now. Once the site is up and running for a bit I will be changing that to things like polls, latest forum bits'n'bobs, news etc.
Also, the descriptions are for the people around here, no offence to them but around here they are not ... modern. A description will help them out.
Thanks again.
Cheers, Marc

Well, the colors are, well...
but as a portal for a community it looks great. Compare it to the one where I live (You need Japanese Language support to view it correctly, but if not you'll still see the flashing whats new gifs, scrolling text and other horrors)

I like the simplicity, easy access and quick load times of your page.

Yes, that logo looks better. What you could do with an arrow is just put it right underneath the "Pembs Direct", so the text is sort of sitting on the arrow (not directly though - leave some space in between). I also think that your bevel effect on there is a little too much - the bevels are too big if you know what I mean.

Sorry Megan,
I was replying to Andrew.
Looks better, good good. Arrow, will run that idea past a few people and see what feedback I get. I think if I could run it across the page maybe, something similar it would be ok.
Bevel, umm... umm.... umm.... can I just leave it as it is .. please
By the way, I love your site, looked at it a while back. But you do have quite a few spelling mistakes

Thank you! I'll have to comb through that and fix any mistakes. There's a bunch of stuff I have to add/change but I haven't got around to doing that yet.

Keegan,
Those logo's are pretty awesome, but not want I would be looking for. They have, however, given me some ideas
If you want to take another crack (you don't have to), could you put the Pembs in green and the Direct in red.
The reason for those colours is because they are our nations colours
Busy,
I hate Netscape , thanks for taking a look at it in Netscape for me though, I will do some work on what you said as soon as possible. Work to catch up on and just today I have partnered with a News site to display the latest welsh news on my site, which means more work.
Thanks again for all your comments

I think the site is nice and clean. Personally, I like the colors and think they go well with your content. Logo isn't too bad but it needs something and I probably wouldn't bevel the letters so much. Why don't you try the arrow or something similar like Megan suggested? I like the logo that Keegan whipped up for you too.
One of the first things I noticed was the curve4 gif. It looks a little jagged. I made one for you. It should be the same size and color. I am not a curve expert but this one did look a little better to me. If you don't use it I will not get my feelings hurt. I needed the practice anyway.

But had to re-size it. So when I resized it a little white hole appeared, patched that up and hopefully it looks good as new.
Fingers crossed.
