Opinions Needed...... - I'm not sure whether I like my site deisgn
Hi,
I'm bored of my current web site design and have finally managed to make myself make a new one. I've only done one page just to get opinions before committing to it. Most of the people I've showed so far have like it but I thought I'd get a few more opinions.
The url is: http://208.231.24.39/home/index.shtml
Thanks for your time
Neil

Cool color sheme - very bright and refreshing. It could get hard to look at after awhile though.
You need to fix your blue graphics - jagged corners, and just something weird going on on the right hand side.
I like the font you've chosen for your "Home" heading, but it's a little hard to read when it's smaller - what does that say, anyway? It looks like "Cresium Network". Maybe you could just tinker with the "a" and maybe the "k" to make them a little more readable.
Hmm... I'm having a hard time figuring out what exactly your site is supposed to be about... your introducdtion under "Welcome to the Caesium Network" should probably say a little bit about what the purpose of your site is and what people can find there. Is this just scripts? What does Ignition Scripting have to do with the Caesium Network? What is InteReaction? It seems to me that you're making certain assumptions about what your visitors know about your site. Maybe it would help if I could get into your sub-pages, but I think that certain basic information about your site should be outlined on the first page.

Hi,
Yes. My sites called The Caesium Network. I agree. It is quite hard to read if you dno't know what it's meant to say. I might try and fix that sometime! I'll put some descriptions of each section in now. It is quite hard to know what they are without visiting the pages.
The bar on the right seems to mess up in Netscape. It's fine Is MSIE 5 though. I can't work out why it does it though! If anyone could help me fix that bug I would be very grateful.
Thanks for your comments.

Well I like it, the bg especially - some of the round edged graphics are a bit jagged though.

Hi Neil,
Love the Raccoon . Great color combination and layout.
As already stated, your font is unreadable. It has a cool "look" but in my opinion readability should be the first priority over any design. You want your name to stand out in people's minds. I felt a little frustrated trying to decypher it let alone remember it since it's not a real common word to begin with. The description was also overshadowed by that font. I had no idea what kind of website I was about at first glance I was thinking something juvenile -- toys, kids etc....) not necessarily from the cute raccoon, but the combination of the raccoon and the "kid like" font in your "ad banner goes here" space.
take care,
Carolyn

Hi,
I've made some changes now. http://208.231.24.39 is the url for it now! I've added descriptions but not changed the top image.

I stated a little bit about it at freewebspace, but I'll go into more detail here.
1) or your "gateway" page, i would get rid of the "The Name Skirrow" and just have the main page. Most people won't be there looking for geneology of their last name, and don't like clicking to get into the main page.
2) you have left out 640x480 people.
3) you need to define the left menu bar from the main part of the site, or atleast make a cell in between the two. they are butted right up against each other.
4) on the very bottom it says "The Content On This Site May Only Be Used With The Permission Of Neil Skirrow." i wouldn't capitalize the first letter of each word.

Hi,
1) I seem to have to have The Name Skiirow bit. My dad is really stupid and does not seem to understand the net! He seems to think that thousands of skirrow's will come flocking to my site because of the domain! He's mad!!!
2) How have I left 640x480 people out? The table is 620 pixels wide and I tried to make it okay for them.
3) Yes. I thought that myself and I'll be doing that VERY soon.
4) That isn't a very important part of the site but I guess it probably would be better to do that, so I'll change it soon.
Thanks for your help

Hi,
I don't think it's that important! I tested it and they only really miss the liitle blue bar! If I make it any thinner then I won't be able to fit it all in! I always thought 620 was the standard width for web sites. Can't remember why!!
