Online Skateboarding Magazine Critique Needed
I am opening an online skateboarding magazine called grindrail. Go to http://www.angelfire.com/ct2/grindrail/index.htm , wait a couple seconds (20-25), and it will take you tothe idea I had. I don't have any banners or images, and I am going to get a domain if this project does well. Then go to http://www.pcdev.com/grindrail , and tell me waht you think of that. I am not sure, but I think I like the one at angelfire better, tell me how to improve, and which layout to use, and also how i should make my sub-pages.

I have to agree. I like the Angel Fire version better. It’s very clean and straight to the point. A cool grayscale illustration in the background would look really cool. Some small animations or Flash movies would also liven up the site. I would stick with a very low color scheme though.
Good luck!

I think a little bit of both sites. I like the top bar from the second site, but I would change it to a table instead of a frame. I also like the pulldown menu from the AngelFire Site.
Well, good luck. try combining the two sites. I liked the second layout better. I'd have to say.

Thanks guys. I really needed that critique. My site needs some flash, like on that intro part (http://www.angelfire.com/ct2/grindrail/index.htm), so then it will be a little bit better. Do any of you know where I can get some flash, or someone that could make the lash intro for me? Email me about it when you can. Also, under the drop-down, what should I put under it? I am not sure, help me out with that.

I like the second site layout and I also agree to make it tables instead of frames.

Being that it is a magazine, I would put a "Featured Articles" list with a link to each article and a short description of it.
Good Luck

I like the one located at PCDev. But I wouldn't make the top menu a frame. A table could do the job just as well... Also- I wouldn't make the background blue, I would make it grey.

I like the second design better, too.
But I have to disagree about the frame with everybody here. This is about to become a rather large site, so you need some real constant feature. I would put a logo into the top frame, so you get a better branding effect. And as a nice side effect you decrease loading time for your visitors because the source for the menu only has to be laoded once per visit. You also save bandwidth this way, so you might save money also.

Go to http://9jpi1/grindrail/one/stuff.htm . That is in my Frontpage Server. Check out that design and tell me what you think. I really just like the part with the drop-down. Please, everyone tell me what you think. I want this project to be perfect.

I don't think a drop-down menu would be my choice over the frame. Although it might look more compact, etc., the frame navigation is easier to find, etc. in my opinion...

I am not sure what to do. I don't know which colors to use. If I can't think of something to do, I am going to start a whole new design with different colors. Check out http://www.247sk8mag.com, that's a good online skateboarding magazine site. I would use the maroon, but since both sites are "online skateboarding magazines", I can't copy them. What should I do!? I am lost! Maybe you guys could give me some color ideas, or something, or give me a whole new design! HELP!!!!!
