Hi,
I've been running my website for a little over a year now and I have recently redesigned it. I'm not going to bore you to death with all the facts pertaining to the content and themes of the website as I hope this should become apparent upon viewing it, and I do not wish to generate any prejudices.
I joined this forum back in my "frontpaged website" days in '02 and I suddenly remembered that I hadn't been here for a while. Should be good fun to stick around and post a bit, it's a great little community you have here. Nice to see the regulars such as Megan and Busy are still around.
So what do you think, both of the layout and the content?

Welcome back to the forums, Nuke!
This looks okay. I like what you've done with the navbar. I think it would be even more interesting if the full background changed colour on mouseover rather than just the icon changing.
I'm finding the borders around each section to be rather heavy but I'm not sure that that's a bad thing. Everything is very chopped up and separated from each other. I wonder if you could move the navbar over so it was sort of hanging on to the edge of the content area, which would be all one box instead of separated like it is. I think the logo might work better outside of the borders instead of boxed in like it is. I'm not sure about that though.
Otherwise this is pretty good. I think it would be good if there was more content on the front page. Think about using the front page as a way to draw people into the site and show them what they can do there.

A very tidy looking site! I'm finding it difficult to locate any problems at all.
I would say though, that the index page is a little empty. Appart from the random image there isn't any content. Perhaps a shout-box or something to bring it to life?
As Megan said, if the images lit up on rollover, instead of just the icons, it'd look neat.
Articles and Quizzes and Tools all need more content, 1 or 2 links doesn't really warrant a whole section and makes it feel empty.
Alternating the position of the images for Flash Games (left to right) would give the page a more funky feel.
Like I said before, the site is very neat and tidy. But that may be it's downfall too: it needs more a lively feel with splashes of colour. Maybe a watermarked background would help?
Regards

the buttons on the left are cool but I found It has too much green for my taste, it looks like a sad website, maybe more colors or a different color would give it a different view, anyway those are my 2 cents.

Thanks, these are some really helpful suggestions and comments.
Megan:
- How should I go about making the whole background change colour, rather than just the picture. Should the background go lighter? What would you suggest?
- I like your idea about bringing the navbar and content together more instead of separating them so harshly. Could I go so far as to move the header, navbar and content into the one bordered area?
Dux0r:
- I did plan to put some news on the index page, whether manually or just by pulling some headlines from a gaming/technology RSS feed from Yahoo or something. I'll have a think of what else I could add some life and depth to the index page. Any suggestions?
- I'll do some restructuring with the empty sections. I suppose you're right, no one wants to click to a section on a website and see one link. Not a very good way to keep visitors interested and it gives them a bad impression.
- So you think I should ditch the descriptions and just have the images for the flash games left to right? I suppose the description would be better off on the actual individual games pages, as the user can then see how to play and whatnot. Good call.
- I want to add some more colour to break up the green, which I personally feel is a little heavy atm. Could you or anyone else suggest where I could add more colour or replace the green colours with another?
Hotortillas:
Read point above.

I may be alone on this, but I like the colours. They some how seem a refreshing change to me. Also the logo is great.
You may consider putting all the information from your 'about nuke3' page onto your index page. You need more info on your main page to explain the content of the site and to keep visitors interested. Your page ranking will also increase.
There are no articles or tutorials on the article page, so you may want to state that resources are 'coming soon'. It is important to get more content for this page and the 'tools' page.
The games are great, alot of fun and they download quickly. The gallery is also amusing and entertaining.
I really like the site and enjoyed my visit.

I just added a lot more content to the index page based on your idea. I think it works really well. And I'm working on those pages you mentioned to get some more content/articles/tutorials on them.
Thanks.

That brightens up the menu, I rather like that.
