not too exciting but...
...any thoughts/feedback on this one?
I do know that the quill graphic needs to be redone. I'm waiting on the client to settle on a background (I was opposed to the background concept but you can't win them all)

I don't really have a whole lot to say about this. It's not bad, not amazing or anything. Considering the topic of the site I don't think the textured background is all that inappropriate. Have you tried more of a grey-ish tone instead of the off-white? That might look better.
I'm finding that some of the pages have a bit too much scripted font. Try doing the subheaders just in the same font as the body text.

background has changed again by client request
"I'm finding that some of the pages have a bit too much scripted font. Try doing the subheaders just in the same font as the body text."
Megan - full agreement there. The client actually wanted it ALL in Nuptial. I was able to convince her of that folly but did not succeed on the subtitles.
In fact, I'm having a hard time convincing her that EVERY paragraph should not have a scripted dropcap.
"It's not bad, not amazing or anything."
Heh, "mediocre" actually comes to mind but hey, the client is liking it. This is actually a case where I was quite pleased by my first attempt and every requested change just moves further and further into the realm of "bleah"

This new background is definitely worse! What can you do though...

NS4.6 doesn't handle CSS the same as IE, so the links are default underlined blue. And with the logo about the same shade, it looks really blah.
In IE4.0 the links are red, but the alignment is off. On one line you have the logo, home ~ personal &
(line break here)
family, etc.
Same with the quotation at the bottom of the page. On the personal and info pages, the drop caps are suffering a similar alignment problem.
It obviously has something to do with v4 browsers. But what you've got is simple stuff that shouldn't require IE5+only type code.

Its a nice clean layout (but see TheGizmoids note about v4 browsers)
It looks like it could be missing something thou
You need to make the feather pen a transparent gif, the white background ruins it
Have you tryed verdana font?
the quote at the bottom is very blurred and hard on the eyes

Yup, I know about the quill (read opening comment). In fact, ALL the graphics whill be redone if and when a background is settled on :whine:
Verdana may be an idea - thanks.
Gizmoid:
Bleah! Thanks! All I need!
Funny. Things are fine in NS4.7 - aren't you a Mac user? Could this be an issue? I tweaked the stylesheet slightly to hopefully address the link alignment issue. Unfortunately, I don't have IE4.x to test with anymore.
I'll try to figure out the other alignment issues tomorrow - way too tired today.
Thanks all.

Yeah, I'm on a Mac. I don't know all the quirks between the different browser versions on various platforms, but it *could* be an issue with this particular build.
I went back again, cleared my cache and did the "super-reload" in both browsers and no change.

Taff I have to say that your attitude about all this gave me a good laugh this morning. I especially like that part where you were whining. hehehe
I definately feel for you BUT I kinda like the site. It is simple and to the point. Don't like the background though. It looks pink to me. OMG---am I color blind? Not too bad for a textured bg I guess becuase it sort of fits with the content.
This would really look good on a white BG wouldn't it?
Also noted the feather and its bg but i see that you will fix that as soon as your delima passes.
I am not to crazy about the colors for the links. I am seeing a dark red that rolls over to red. Hmmmmmm??
Don't fret too much though. Ya did good.

hehe. I've said it before - they're ALL my babies, even the ugly ones
I should have left my first draft up for comparison. I liked that one a lot - bing, bang, boom - done in under a day, the ideal 5-pager. Then the revision requests poured in.
The colours are client's choice (the "warm colour" client, by the way)
"Don't fret too much though. Ya did good."
Thanks d-m. No worries about me fretting. This is small potatoes compared to my real worries

I must have the best clients in the world! Very rarely do they say "I want this, that & the other" and hardly ever do they dislike or want to change the site once I show it to them!! Either that or my Husband (he sells them) must say something along the lines of "Like it or else!" hehe

Since you have your site centered - what about making the feather graphic large and putting it in the background on the right or left, and then justifying your page? Does that make sense? That might add something to the pages.
I know that there is a difference of opinon on whethr or not to use pixels or percentages - but sence yours seems to be absoloute - might as well go with it.
What if you had graphics for links along the top and not just text?
Just some ideas. They may work. they may not - just putting it out there.

It sure would be nice Brooke! The original that I liked so much had sidebar navigation (graphical) with the quill as a backdrop. The client didn't like it
Don't waste your creativity here folks. The site has constantly "devolved" - it ain't gonna get better. I just need to address technical issues now.
