Boy it is like 1:30 in the morning. Ugh...well first of all Angelfire sucks! Go to Hypermart or Tripod. Don't go to Geo****ies. Go to www.freewebspace.net for a list of the free hosts. I would get rid of the entrance page thing it really serves no purpose. I don't have any clue what to say it is 2 late. I'm to tired to think maybe I will come back tomorrow morning when I wake up and do one then.

1) First off, you don't need to have that gateway page that first appears that asks if you want to enter. If I were a viewer who liked Metallica then I would close my browser window 'cause there are much better sites.
2) Your site is very amateurish. The colors don't go very well together, and it looks dark.
3) The logo is good, but why do you have it all over the page 3 times? I would justg make it appear once.
4) Let me ask this question: why would someone want to visit your site instead of metallica.com? First, you take all your info from there, and Second, it has a lot more stuff. Just keep that in mind.
Overall it's very amateurish, and I would suggest reading up on design, etc...
Agreed- the site doesn't look very good at all. I could point out things that don't make it look good, but truthfully it just needs a complete re-design. There's not much hope for the design as is. Read up on designing as suggested, or hire a professional.
Thanks for all of your help guys, but you have to remeber that this is my very first webstite that I have ever created.
Quite frankly I think that this critique was more of a bashing than a real citique, and secondly why would a 15 year old boy like me ever hire a profesional?
Do not take me wrong here I appreciate all the info and opinions, and I will take all of this into consideration.
But other than that I know that my webpage is not that great, I know that my webpage will never be a really big thing. But whose to say that anyones website will be a big smash!
My opinion is that nomatter how hard you work there will always be a webpage better than yours or one that has een around much longer than yours.
My overall opinion on your critiqueing was that you guys should lay of of the spicy foods and calm down a little, we look to you guys for help, not t get a lecture on how much our webpage blows.
THANKS ANYWAYS

I'm sorry if you didn't like the feedback we gave you, but you need to remember that YOU were the one that asked for the critique.. I gave my honest opinion, that the site needs to improve. I don't know what you wanted me to say, but that is my honest opinion. Whether you believe us or not, we ARE trying to help you here, not bash you, and hope your site _does_ succeed. I do agree that usually there will always be someone with better site than you, usually with more money... But, you just have to take into consideration how much better their site is than yours. Your objective should be to close that gap as much as possible. Good luck!
Yeah, you wanted our comments, and we gave them too you. Although they wern't what you wanted to hear, if we would have lied then you wouldn't learn anything. My first website was about your level or a bit below. When I asked people if they liked it they gave it to me. Without them I would still be designing amateurish pages that arn't too great. Sorry if I (we) offended you.
It all depends on what you want to get out of this site. If you want it to be a popular Metallica resource, you need to put in much more work into the design and into the content of your site. I'm gonna agree with Justin, the design is very amateurish.
Another thing is that the site is one-dimentional. If I don't like Metallica, I'm out of there.
I suggest you to take a look at a site that a friend of mine is working on right now: http://www.musiceffect.com
He is putting together lots of resources about different bands and different genres of music. If I don't like Metallica, and I happen to visit his site, I will find other bands that I do like.
Sorry about that guys!
Your right I did go a bit overboard on that! I do think you guys are doing an exellent job on this and I shake your hand for being so honest that is a great trait and you guys do help..

Well, if someone doesn't like Metallica why would they come to this site in the first place.
I'll try to give you a bit more constructive criticism:
Lose the splash page. It serves no purpose. If people have clicked on a link to go to your site they obviously want to enter, so why make them go through another page to get where they want to be?
Angelfire is not a good place to be from what I hear. I often get 404's for no reason when tyring to visit angelfire pages, and some friends of mine have had problems getting in to update their sites. Parker - what's wrong with Geocities?
Red and green isn't the best choice of colour - it reminds me of Christmas. You also need a lot more original content. No one is going to come back to your site if you don't have anything unique and different.
Another thing you need is more design elements. You've just got a logo and some text on the main page. Try using table cells with coloured backgrounds. They work well for layout (this page uses them well) and they don't take ages to download like images do. Check out the site that's in the banner ad at the bottom.
One more thing - it's very important to have a navigation menu on every page. That way people can get around your site without having to hit their back button.
Well the geocities names aren't real long any more. I do find them easy to use but for the reasons stated by Justin makes them bad. The urls they have now is www.geocities.com/membername/

Heh- you could start a whole thread of why Geocities stinks.
1) Long address.
2) Big ugly ads and pop-ups.
3) No CGI or FTP.
4) and the list goes on...
I would definantly check out www.freewebspace.net for 400+ reviews of FWPs. I personally like VirtualAve...
