New site - what do you think?
Hello, finished my new site and need some reviews and ideas from people that have not looked at it almost 24h a day.
The picture in the middle should be an animation only i cant get it to the right format yet.
The logo is crap becuase im running a competition to design a logo (marketing technique).
Other than that what does everyone think. Be as harsh as you like!
Thanks.

Well....
Some sites would not win prizes for asthetics, but work really well through accessibility and ease of use. Difficult to see that at the moment without any items up for auction
If you look at ebay, and then look at your site, the top nav looks suspiciously... identical. It's great to be inspired by another site - it's another thing to lift entire elements!
In terms of the code, you need to lose the font tags and control at least the typography with CSS.
It'd be easier to give feedback with items on the page. It looks like it should be perfectly serviceable, however in FF the search banner breaks
Going from a fixed width front page to fluid width for all the other pages seems a bit odd. You should have one or the other in my opinion.
Not a fan of the image on the frontpage either
I like the colours you use, and I think, on the surface it looks fine. I would look at the code and the ebay navigation, and change those

Clean, take note what chris had said, Navigation and link wise your page seems to be less confusing as well as categorically it is well divided... also the scheme of blue and green just not quite sync in when green is bright and thin...

STOP MIXING STYLES! Sorry, I would make the site one common theme.
You have....
- clean black and white menu (the belongs to eBay)
- Blue logo with green border
- Blue gradient header with green border
- Boxes with a bule hearder and blue border in the body
ect. you get the idea...

Thanks for the quick feed back guys.
Yes i agree that the blue and green does not look quite right. Although i am running various design competitions on the site to make things interesting (ie the logo redesigned).
As for the ebay navi, i thought that because its so simular to ebay people will feel right at home straight away.
But perhaps some subtle changes could be done.
Do blue and green not go together, or should i use the colours the other way around - would make more sense having the darker colour as a border?

Hi.
Taken a look at the site. Whilst I appreciate it is aimed at a very specific market/niche of user, it looks a little bland to me.
Had I of stumbled across it from a search engine, apart from the centre logo, I wouldn't have any real idea about what the site was all about. I think you might benefit from some sort of explanation as to what your site is, what it does, what it hopes to do etc.
As for getting someone to design your logo as part of a competition, good luck!! The biggest problem with a new site is the lack of visits... and without interested visitors, there will be nobody to design your logo etc etc. I would suggest either dropping that idea, or just do one yourself... you can always update it as some point in the future.
Hope all this helps.
Dave
