New Interface Needs Help!
Ok, here is the deal. I am starting to do a lot of adding of new features to my web site mconet.com and have decided to revamp the main interface and main page a little.
Please check: http://www.mconet.com/n.html
and tell me what you think.
Thanks in advance.

Looks pretty good, here's some suggestions:
It's too diverse in colors. Maybe some repedativeness is in order.
The whole Table Background thing doesn't work for me, so.. If it was m web page I would do one of two things:
1). Make it so that the table fades to the background color,
2). Remove the backgrounds all together.
For some reason that whole backgrounded table thing seldom works.

mconet,
Try rounding the corners of your tables. Currently, the site has a very 'boxey' feel to it.
Also, tone down the background graphics in the tables, I pulls attention from the text content.
Use the <blockquote> tags in your tables so the text doesn't touch the edges of the cell.
I like the simplistic approach you have taken with the layout. Emphasize that and I think it will help your site.

To Johnnyboy:
Cellpadding in the Table tag works, too.

1) I really like the different colors and patterns for the boxes, but I would change the header to reflect those colors for each box.
2) Take out the "click above to visit the advertiser" text. Looks tacky.
3) Make the logo the width of the navigation bar. In english: make it a little bigger.
4) It looks like you just stuck a navigation there on the left side. Create some cool graphics or something to liven' it up. It's really bland...

The background of the 4 tables are pretty cool! But they seem to be lacking something. How about adding a 1 or 2 pixel wide black border around it?

Well, somehow this site crashed my browser - could be just this computer being fussy (which really sucks because I just got here and now I can't tell which threads are new!). I had a nice reply written and everything!
Anyway, the patterns aren't working so well now but I think with a little bit of tweaking they could be okay. Maybe make some cool graphic titles for each box. Try changing the page background to black. Also try moving the boxes closer together or at least make sure that the space between them is roughly equal (both horizontally and vertically). Reducing the amount of text on there might help too (a lot of those explanations are unnecessary). I do not think that rounded corners would work in this case. Oh, and try to fix it so that all of the boxes are the same height.
I definitely agree that those patterned backgrounds should be incorporated into the logo somehow.
