New gaming site needs advice on look and content
Hi
I am hoping a few people will take a moment to critique our new gaming site. What we really want to know is the load time on different machines, fast, slow or I'm outta here... Does the graphics align right in different browsers..etc. Our main concern is the content, do we offer enough to keep visitors coming back and if not what would be a good addition? Any advice would be appreciated. BTW if you are the webmaster of a game site please feel free to add your url.

Loading times are very good for me. There is a problem with the background in 1024*768 - I think it's repeating itself on the right side.
I can't tell you much about content I'm afraid - not my field really...

Looks nice! It is a tad bit slow for me here (on a T1 - it could just be a slow day from this end though).
Is it just me or are there two similar but slightly different a:hover colours on the sub-pages? Make them both the same.] Overall I really like the colour scheme though, and the layout is really nice too. It would be nice if you could find a way to make the ads less prominent, but I'm not sure how you would go about doing that.
Like anat, I'm not a gamer myself so I'm not the best person to help with the content aspects.
P.S. Welcome to TWF, janx!

Your suggestions and positive criticism is very much appreciated.
anat - You're probably right about the background, but I really don't know what I could do to solve that, everything is laid out to the exact pixel to get it aligned right. Thanks for letting me know.
Megan Jack - Banner ads, don't we all hate them. I tried to insert them so that they blended into the page, but I guess I didn't succeed. I wasn't aware that the hover colors were different, I will make the change.
Thanks again for taking the time to check out my site, it makes fixing error easier if you know what's wrong.
Thanx - Janx

Content - If I was more into gaming, I'd come back more and more [especially if I had time to design games.]
Design - It seems to end abruptly, like there is no closing. For the most part it is a good design, except that it looks too choppy, and then it kind of just trails off into nowhere. The navigation is kind of confusing. I had to go through at least three different links to find a link for "Xenogears."
It could use improvement, but still it looks alright, but not to may taste.

Thanks Mike for your comments. I will take your comments into consideration. As for the poor navigation I don't really agree. The whole point to Gameopedia is to search for game links and if you would have searched for "Xenogears" instead of browsing categories it would have come up as the first result. I agree that the page ends abruptly and I will change that. Thanks again for your critique.

Let me clarify why I searched for a specific title by just going through the categories: I wanted to see how long it would take a casual user to navigate into a specific section of the site, without the search option. This, to me, is a very critical part of directory-type sites like this, because.. after all.. I'd say about 50% of your visitors are going to just go for some general knowledge, without much of a specificity in mind.
