New design for my site -
Hi Bob,
I'm looking at your site right now. It looks very informative, useful, and easy to navigate. I really think the small graphics you have(books)are enough for a site like this and the colors work well together. You DO need to add an identifying logo, something with your name on the top (a simple gif image using one or two primary colors would work and would be a very small file size).
I'm curious about your blue borders, your body text overlaps the borders and is hard to read. I'm not sure if this is a result of my using a 640/480 size screen or if it was an intentional design element. Either way, I would suggest narrowing your border (menu width) and fitting the body text all onto the white area of the page. You may also want to change the "visited link" color, it's also more difficult to read from the lack of contrast. There is a lot of interesting info on your page I will go back and take a longer look when I have more time.
take care,

Hi Bob,
A few points:
- As said, a logo is needed.
- Ditch/alter the background, it makes the text hard to read. Maybe just have it the size of the left column.
- Use italic and bold text to liven up the text.
- Try a vertical rule between the main text and books.
- Green on light blue text, Ouch! Hard to read. I would use black/very dark blue.
- I would also a grey border for the left column to merge with the heading cells.
Take care.

Hi Bob,
I was just about to say I could not see the changes, but that is because you haven't uploaded them yet . Tell us when you do.
Excellent, it is always a bonus to recruit talented webmasters/programmers into the Webmaster Forums community.
I will be opening up a general discussion board later to help encourage us to take a break from work (yah, cos this is work ).
Have a nice day!

Hello,
I have reviews your site and there is a couple changes I think would make your site better, Change the website bg to white and make the navigation table the blue color that is on the back ground image now, i think that would help out with the colors, other than that, this is a very good website.

First impresions, ditch the background image. I am viewing your page with 800X600 res. and the image crosses into your text. This makes it hard to read.
If I was designing this site, I would choose a different font. Times New Roman does not appeal to me.

One of my favourite fonts is Verdana, however it has the problem of taking a lot of space compared to TNR and I have therefore ended up using it for headings and not for main content to save on larger pages.

Hi again Bob,
The text is much more readable now. I still think more contrast is needed between your menu text and the background. The two colors collide a bit (dull green vs. bright blue)I might go with white menu text or a much darker/lighter color.
You still need a logo, I would be happy to make one for you --- my prices are very reasonable (free--for forum members ), Don't hesitate to ask.
Take care,

Hi there Bob
It's a nice clean cut page you got there. I would suggest changing the navigational text to another color, or change the background to a more greyish one like "#c0c0c0". The text seems to bleed into the background. Another thing I've learned is that in this
case BOLD is not always a good thing, especially when the contrast is too low.
Rather use a a sans-serif font like "arial" set the px size manually in a style-sheet, play around with it a bit - And with "Arial" the bold just looks better in my opinion.
Overall it feels good

Much MUCH better in my opinion.
- Like the blue right column.
- Like the button effect on the left column headings.
- As Steven said change the blue on green link colour. How about white on blue?
- There is a javascript that can detect if a site has you framed and break out withough using a 'break out of frames link' It would be better than the link you use now.
A definate improvement.
