new design - feedback needed
I have finished a new design for my site (http://www.javaplace.co.uk/newsite/) and could use some feedback on it. I am aware that the logo might look slightly newbieish (it was my first go with fireworks!) and I know it is not completely finished yet but any comments would be appreciated. Thanks

Good start...
The logo goes a little off the rest of the table in 1024x740.
I see the look you are going for, but it's a little compact. Set heights to the tables so its not so jammed in there.
So many animated buttons is VERY distracting from the main content, not to mention an eyesore.
Put some kind of bullets in the menu, either graphical or using the <ul> tag.
Other than that, pretty good. Nice colors.

1) The logo is ok, but it's a little grainy. You might also want to make some type of icon or symbol for the logo of your site, instead of just text.
2) Add some bullets to the left menu. Also get rid of the purple vlink and alink colors. It doesn't look to smashing.
3) Oh- Times New Roman is a really, er, original font. Why not use verdana or something. Times New Roman is just not good.
4) That "Our Partners" text looks out of place. You also have an awful large amount of buttons, which not only a) distracts the user, but also b) make the page look cluttered and unprofessional.
5) I see no point in the drop-down menu, since the side menu is on each and every page.
6) That's a pretty intersting effect you tried with the logo. I'm not sure if I like it or not. I guess it's pretty cool.

By golly! It's much much much BETTER then the last design!
The only thing is, dun use "Times New Romans". Use "Verdana" or "Arial" or other nice fonts.

Goodbookmarks.com - Tired of search engines returning links with no content or bad design? Then GoodBookmarks.com is your solution. All sites listed have at least a decent design and rich in content. And most importantly, they're all worth a BOOKMARK.

I have made more some changes. Done most things said (apart from the bulleted list idea). Could someone take a look.
All the freecenter buttons obviously won't be there but they were put there to givbe me an idea of how it will look with buttons there. Does the banner look ok at the bottom or should it be binned? Is there somewhere else it could go?
Thanks

Nice!! I like the logo, a lot...but it is a little rough, fix that and it would be perfect! Make the font size a bit small (size 2). Don't center:
EchoDev
Ethos Online
ArticleCentral
on the right sidebar.
I like it a lot, it kinda looks like WebmasterDir.com, but I don't care about that! Good site and keep up the good work!

1) Why didn't you add the bullets? I think it would make it look better.
2) Why do you have the drop down menu below the site?
3) Logo is still a pretty ****py image quality (IE: grainy).
4) Lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots of buttons...

Justin, you always think that people should add bullets! I think that the only time this really helps is when some of the links are spanning two lines. This looks fine to me.
The logo needs work. Too much text on here. The main title text looks fine, but i would get rid of the rest of it and add some sort of drawing (dingbat fonts are good).
What you should do is try to get more content on the first page to push those ad buttons down below the fold (at 800 x 600 at least). Those are always distracting and often ruin good designs.
I also think that the drop down menu should go. It seems out of place down there below the table borders. I personally don't like it when I have to use these for important navigation. Maybe it would be better to add a row of text links in a wide cell across the bottom.
