Hello and welcome to TWF! Nice to see a fellow Canadian here Smiling We'd appreciate it if you could help us out and give others your thoughts on their sites. So check out some other threads in this section and see if you can find some criticism to give. This forum wouldn't be here if it weren't for generous feedback from others.

Your site looks good. I really like the beveled border and logo area. I can find a couple of things to complain about though Smiling.

Make the page background black so you don't get two white bars on either side at higher resolutions. Also find a better colour for the navbar options - that pale blue is hard to read against the white. Don't change the cursor - many people could become confused when the cursor doesn't change to the hand over a link like they expect it to.

Some of these gallery links don't seem to be working right. I"m not getting any pictures coming up - just some "vote for this car" buttons and a bunch of blank space at the bottom. Is this not done yet? There should also be a header with the car name so I know which page I'm on. Where did you get these photos? Have you thought about copyright? You could get in trouble if you've using photos without giving credit to the copyright holder.

Have you looked at your site in v4 browsers? It's not as you intended in IE4.0 and it's a total mess in NS4.6 (Mac).

By using a re-direct service that cloaks your site in a frame, you've made it very difficult for a search engine to access your site.

Also, I realize the pop-up is probably from your free host or the re-direct service, but it's not just a small pop-up that's easily dismissed. It's a full page of advertising and contributed significantly to download time on my 33.6.

Your site looks great. Those pop up pages are really annoying though. Also you forgot to add Jensen to the pic your fav car. Car pics could be higher definition.

Very slow loading
wheres all the rest of makes of cars? I'm a car nut and was looking forward to all makes but seems only whats available in US and Canada is showen, wheres, Austin, Morris, Mini, Subaru etc etc? I also notice you list chevrolet but not ford, and on the pick your favorite "car" you list chevrolet among others as cars, they arent cars they are makes, a shelby is a ford (one version is) and thats listed as a car type. you need to seriously look at your listings, people that know about cars wouldnt waste there time here as it seems you know nothing about cars. even the vw isnt there and that car won some most sales ever award or life long sales record.
I'm sure you havent seem your site in a version 4 browser, its a mess, not even readable

in IE it looks like the top of the round table is missing, the page is still loading (only been 5 mins) so it may stil come, ohh your using .png's, stick with .jpg and gifs, png arent widely excepted yet.

ok the sites finished loading and it was missing the top section, that top.png is 52.2 kb, ouch, no wonder it took forever to load. you need to use gifs and crunch em (compress them)

I also checked it in Netscape 6, its also a mess, not as bad as 4.7 thou, in IE i have a black background, in Net 6 I have a zebra crossing.

none of the links work for me.

Interesting, because it looks fine to me in mozilla 0.9.5. NS 6.0 is very buggy - you should really switch to the newest version - I think they have 6.2 out now, because they've fixed a lot of things and added some cool new features.

Actually, I'm checking it out in NS 6.0 and it doesn't look any different from mozilla, and the only difference I can see between that view and IE is that in mozilla/NS 6 the white bars appear on either side and in IE it's all black (don't know why this is showing up white in NS/mozilla). Oh, and in mozilla the ad banner doesn't show up. (Bonus!)

Nice site. Few little things:

Like Megan said don't change the cursor, very annoying!

Why have the banner at the top, spoils the look of the site.

Do we need to be told what day of the week it is???

When I go through to the Gallery link I get a list of cars, click on one and it appears nothing happens, oh no I have to scroll down and there should be some pictures (they aren't showing!) - even at a larger res this isn't obvious. Maybe put a little note saying that the pictures will load under the list.

Annoying horizontal scroll bar in the picture section.

Using frames isn't the best of ideas if you want the search engines to index the site well.

Blue links are very hard to read that colour and the text is very small.

Good start Wink

A few things I noticed in your code:
You have fonts specified but no closing font tags or closing bold tags.
<font size=1><B><a href="index.html">Home</A><BR>'
Several things have an opening center tag but no closing tag.
There is no closing body tag. Looks like you have these problems throughout the site.

thank you so, much, i will start to look at other sites later... most of the problems have been fixed, like the white bars on the sides, and some of the galleries are working, but as you all have said most dont.. i am still fixing these. as for the version 4 browser thing, i use IE5 but also have netscape 4.6 and IE4 and the site, looks pretty much the same.. the cursor is gone and the link colors have been changed.. thanks alot.

i just have to upload it.

Yeah, your site is overpowered by the ad banner at the top. I assume that you can't change that or the frames since you are using a free server.

  • Compatibility & Code - you are asking for trouble by using Iframes and .png's. There are also several empty tags that will collapse in NS. Several things like this: won't work well without proper spacing. There are also several tags closed that were never opened and no ending body tag. Your text in your navbar is hugging the rail.
  • Logo & Layout - the logo is not bad but sitting between the banner ad and the newezone.com, it is harder for someone to pick out your logo. I would remove the newezone and put a link instead. Your logo should be the best and most visible on the site. Lose the cursor as suggested. The graphics are too heavy.

I think the website looks nice except for a few minor things, there are a few pictures that have borders around them and that makes them look bad imo. I prefer not having any borders around my pics, then again it may just be me Smiling.

The last thing is that the links are too bright - that blue hurts my eyes a little, maybe tone it down a little.

Other from that I would say that you have a nice website. Smiling

Keep up the good work....Smiling
