Hi

I'd like to ask for a review of http://nabialek.it.aplus.pl

The site is about me and is available in Polish and English.

Please review:
- layout
- correct working of style switcher, font size changer and full screen switching

At the moment there are only 2 style sheets prepared, but I hope to prepare a few more soon. All the preferences should be working with cookies on and off, but if cookies are on all the preferences should be retrieved after visiting the page again.

More technical information you'll find in 'About this site'.

Feel free to comment everything you want ...

If posssible give me a mark 1-10 (1 - the worst, 10 - the best) and tell if the site stands out from the others

Thank you for all your opinions...

This is not bad. I like the overall look and the CSS layout. And xHTML strict, too! Smiling

The problems I have with this are mainly related to usability. At first I saw the buttons on the left side and tried ot figure out what they did. I think if you had simple icons here you could convey that message even without having to understand the language. So instead of + and - for font size, you could simply show text in different sizes. You could do something similar with the screen size, just draw a little box with a box inside it to represent the layout (sort of like the way photoshop does this). For page layout you could use colours instead of letters (which don't have any meaning). I'm only able to see one change there and it's just colour change not a layout change.

I also had problems finding the english button. It might be better to put those next to the other preference buttons. At least make them bigger and use the grey box like you did in the preference so people can see what it is.

The good news is that all of the buttons work in Opera!

Overall I'm finding the layout to be a little boxy looking. I find it helps to intrudoce photography or shapes of some sort to break up the boxiness. Overall a good job though! I'm quite impressed Smiling I like what you've done with the navbar. Smiling

I liked the site for what it is -- basically, a learning experience for you. I can see that you put a lot of effort into creating XHTML-compliant code, and ensuring the content can display in many, many browsers. That's good.

Of course, that doesn't make for a compelling site. Not for me, at least. So I'd rate your site at a 6 out of 10. It works, it has information, but it isn't something I'd come back to.

By the way, you can provide multiple stylesheets just by listing them all as link tags. Of course, not all browsers will give you the option of which stylesheet to use, so maybe your method is better.

I think if you wanted to make the site interesting or useful to a broad range of people, you might consider writing technology articles or maybe a blog. That way you can share what you're learning about the Web, and people can get some good information.

I am going to try the method supported by f.e. Firefox but I'll have to check if it won't cause any problems in other browsers. In fact, I use @import and for a single "layout" I have more than one stylesheet. But I've just read in one forum that it might be possible to solve.

Actually, it's not the site that has to be interesting for anyone. You can read it even in introduction that you can simple get some information about me and - that's it!

About articles or blog - maybe for a blog I'll create my new site but articles I'm writing in my other site (http://it.hk.pl) where I'm preparing C++ course, sth about algorytmics and so on...

Thanks for your reviews and I'm waiting for more Smiling
