My Site, is it possible? - I made this page, but it lacks success, any suggestions?
OK, I am building d-Lo Entertainment online. What could I do to make this site better, is it possible to make this site popular on an internet crowded with an overabundance of crappy web portals?
Thanks for your comments

Well first of I like the site alot. But I wouldn't call other peoples portals crappy, cause people might think the same about yours. The thing I noticed was that everything was aligned to the left, and it looked a little "left heavy." If you want to find out more about promoting your site I would visit one of the other forums.

OK, 'Crappy' was a little harsh. I don't mean all portals are crappy, a lof of them are great, but it seems like everywhere I go someone has a new Portal set up. Just trying to find something that will make mine stand out.

Nice. I like the yellow you chose - that's one step to setting yourself apart. I don't like the grey though, doesn't seem to fit with the bright yellow. I would also make your navigation links a different colour so they stand out more.
I'd like to know the origin of your site's name. It's an interesting one and I expect that it has some sort of meaning.
From the topics you have chosen to highlight, it looks like you have a certain target audience in mind (guys mainly - wrestling and video games are highlighted for example). Maybe you could get a partnership with a big WWF site or something. I'm reading some of your "Features" - looks like a teenage male audience. You could maybe hook up with some sites that also cater to the same audience.
I think that if you narrow down your target audience (but not too much) and cater to them you'll have a better chance of being successful.

I agree, there are alot of start-up portals. And your right, you need something that would make people goto your site instead of Yahoo or Altavista. Right now I would goto Yahoo because they offer lots more then you, and they have more sites in their earch engine. So until you get something that will stand out to people, your site will get around 20-40 people a day. Here is a list of what sites have:
[red]Go Network:[/red] a filter program that many search engines don't have.
[red]Yahoo:[/red] most accurate search results, plus lots of free stuff.
[red]Altavista:[/red] lots of indexed sites, plus they have a translator tool.
[red]Hotbot:[/red] you can narrow your search down to sites that have music, video, active x and more on the site.

Actually, FYI: I am getting over 500 uniques a day. Some unique things we are starting to offer are custom content and cusom color schemes. However, these are all in beta phases, as well as the search engine. The search engine will target Teen audiances, therefor NO PORN, I hate when I search for something like 'kittens' (My brother did) and get port coming up. So, maybe in around 5 months with a successful ad launch we can move up.
Thanks for you input, any more sugestions are welcome...

I wouldn't complain about getting 500 unique visitors a day. One you get your search engine up and running you'll get even more.

500 uniques at a 1 percent clickthrough rate... at 12 cents/click is 60 cents a day...
Now times that times 30 days and that is only 18 dollars. Barely enough to cover my hosting. My goal is to impliment the 5 month plan and have much higher visitor rates every day.
Not to say my main goal is profit. The amount I have learned creating this site is priceless. Now I have an adition to my staff and I am sure the sites programing will become even greater.
