Hey, I was just checking out the NHL standings a minute ago - looks like your team is doing well! I was quite surprised... haven't been paying much attention lately.

Welcome to TWF by the way. We'd really appreciate it if you could help us out and review some other sites.

And.... your site isn't coming up at all for me... you might want to double check that URL there...

Firstly, welcome to TWF.

You have a load of tags for some reason in the main column. I tried to do a clean up in Dreamweaver and it locked it up twice! Maybe check out one of the free html verification sites. (someone else will be able to give you links)

I would personally make the table fit to 750 so that it fills the screen a bit more at larger resolutions. I would also centralise the table.

The middle sections goes on for ever! I'd maybe just keep it to the most recent dates (maybe to finish flush with the links on the left side) and then have an archieve page with a link at the bottom of the main page. Otherwise definitely a 'back to top' link to save all the scrolling.

I know the colours are the team colours but the red on blue and vice versa is very, very hard on the eyes. I would go for more of a white background with the red and blue as accent colours for links/rollovers etc.

You need to use height & width tags for your images, it slows the site down by not doing so.

I'm not a fan of the Marquee scrolling text and this is no eception in afraid, it also doesn't look good where the scrolling text is a different size and therefore appears to be on a different level to the 'Site News'.

I take it the links don't work yet.

Good start Wink

God I miss hockey! Hockey here is played on grass with a funny hooked stick, there are no fights and no Zamboni (sp) Machine.
I think "The Webmistress" has some good points. I would also drop your colors down to 256 and have a look at your two side bars. You seem to have a couple of slightly different colors going on.

The team leaders page has some rogue data on it. may also be a nice idea to give the definitions for the acronyms.

let me know when you get the broken links fixed. I would like to see the rest.

Here are some of the problems that are preventing some from viewing it:

Your html pages have no file extensions (.html or .htm)

While IE6 seems to figure out what the files are supposed to be, Netscape 4.7 just chokes.

Your graphics are all bitmaps. Mac users are not going to see a thing. In fact, I'm not sure if Netcape on Windows recognizes bmp files. Your graphics should be either gif or jpg depending on the type of image.

I would recommend a validator as well as a few tutorials for some basic "do's & don'ts"

Stylewise, the blue on red/red on blue hurts my eyes!

Oh, sure! Invite them all to my place. Hey, how about we wait until the weekend and celebrate my 1500th along with your 500. I should be there by then. At this rate I'll be there by tomorrow.

Okay, I'll go order the keg.... you bring the cake.

I still can't get into this site - now it's asking me to download a file of some unknown type. It must be my browser - I guess I'll try IE now...

Okay, now I see it. Definitely too much red on blue and vice versa. Maybe you should stick with blue and white for the most part and just use red as an accent colour.

This is a good example of a site done in red white and blue - notice how they avoid putting red directly on blue and vice versa... (the news on that site... what ???!?? no way, you can't be serious... I'm shocked...ahhhh, okay, UFA's....). YOu could do something like that only on a blue base instead of read (I do think there's too much jammed into the content area on that site but that's besides the point).

The header area on your site definitely needs work. You've got all teh right elements but they're all separated from each other. Try blending some photos together across the top then put the logo on top of it to the left, maybe tilted on an angle a bit. Then spell out "city" or "New York Rangers City" beside it... could work well. Actually, with the name of your site you might want to go with their third jersey logo, with the statue of liberty in it. Would tie into the "city" name better (and I personally like that logo better than the original!).

the links wants me to download something then locks up Netscape4.7
try again in IE, this time it works (I want my netscape Sad)
anyway, I think you should use the fill width of the screen, and get rid of that annoying marquee.

you really need to validate your pages, I had a quick look to see why it locks up netscape and you have no , or tags

tags are? if its meant to be alignment tags, the default is aligned left so nothing is needed.

you also have a lot of unfinished tags like:
e">
notice the end ">" tag is missing off the image tag.

the bmp have been noted, but you should also always use width, height and alt tags with your images, as well as making them load faster, display better and easier to work around if they dont display.

validate your site and it should work in all browsers, if you have problems or get stuck, we're here to help

looking at the 3 top pictures of the players, their uniforms are blue and white, where does the red come from?

Rename your home page as index.html (or whatever your server default is) and put it in the root directory and you can go from this:

to this:

Yep, can't see bitmaps in my browser. Don't forget to use "alt" tags for your graphics.

Pad the main cell a bit so the text isn't bumping against the edges.

Top news link took me to ESPN's site. No way home unless I use my browser's "back" button. I might get involved at ESPN and not come back at all. Consider making off-site links open in a new browser window.

Hello,

I visited your site and have some feedback. Overall the site was well layed out, ie: consistent look and feel as well as easy to navigate. A personal preference of mine is for the main layout table to be centered, I typically use higher resolution and there is considerable space on the right. I also find that the red/blue text/background combo either "visually fuzzy" for blue on red, or hard to read for red on blue. Good job though and good luck!

Yes, but they're outlined in white, so they stand out more from the blue and are easier to see...

See? The red never touches blue directly, there's always a white strip in between.
