My new free hosting design

I think you are onto something here.

It looks like the only thing I would work on later is the top image (I know you put some time into it) and also the 4 links on the left) Heres why...

The rest of the site other than the images mentioned lend the site to be contained in a nice package. The top images, and the left image(s) and links break from the theme you are heading to.

Try going towards the theme and possibly even integrating them directly and you might have a comfortable site. I did notice my reaction when I first saw it. (It looks like a fun site) So maybe head towards that direction also?

I'm not sure what I should make the top image. Its the sunburst effect from PSP. I'm not good at graphic design, so any suggestions?

I think it's looking good! The only thing I would change is to have all the pages sort of look the same. Right now both forms go to plain white pages with no graphics. Either frame them into the front page, or use header and footer HTML in your scripts that match the front page.

Overall I thought that it looked okay but then again I like blue. Somethings to think about:

• Logo - the logo looks fine but I think that it is too big as in width. 780px will cause horizontal scrolling with some browsers at 800x600. I would think about doing it like this:
  Hoststuff
  Free
  Webhosting
  instead of HostStuff Free Webhosting. You might also consider emphasizing the word Free.
• Consistency - this is another thing that your site lacks. It should have a similar look to all pages. In addition there should be navs on every page. I think also that you should be more consistent in your use of color. In the logo you have white shadowed with black. In the left navbar, you have white shadowed with blue. The top navbar has white text on a lighter blue background. The links on the right are black text. You should be more consistent. I would probably change the left navbar to look something like your logo text. Then make your links on the left white as well. In addition, there are too many things going on here. You have an underlined mouseover text on the top but another type of mouseover on the right. Neither of which works in Netscape.
• Page design and layout - you need to redo your signup table. It is quite unattractive as it is. It also should be in a table like your middle white table on your home page with all your navs. As mentioned before, all of your pages should look quite similar.
• Little things - Sign up to get. I would change this to something like
  Free WebHosting
  Sign up to receive:. If you are hosting sites, you will need some kind of Acceptable Use Policy. Will you host adult sites or warez sites? This needs to be spelled out first.

A good start overall, just make the site more consistent and you will get there.

Hey while you are developing your site and can handle two popups you could go to hypermart and get one of their subdomains.

It would let you put a normal site up and learn navigation.

I will work on some nav images for you later tonight.

Actually I've been doing websites for over 2 years, although without great success. At my high point I was making $30 per month but now I have trouble pulling in 1/10 that amount.

The reason I offered the suggestion to use a host out there other than the one you were using was due to you writing "Since I'm co-hosting w/megagiga, I can't change them" I dont know what that means, wont let me change them.

Let me get this straight - you're offering website hosting but the people you're co-hosting with won't let you change your site???? Why? This doesn't make sense to me.

Now, as for the site. I do like the logo Keegan did for you (although I'm not quite sure about that greenish colour and the yellow but whatever...) but there's way too much space below it. Actually, what you should do is redesign the layout to fit around that logo. So the logo would go to the left of those tabs. Speaking of the tabs, you should find a way to separate links to external sites from those to internal pages. Lose the sign-up tab since it's already on the left navbar, and create a link somewhere in the body part to the get password.

I'm also not too keen on the combination of blues here - they just don't seem quite right for some reason. I also think that the navbar buttons on the left are way too big, they should be slightly smaller (although still bigger than the right side links so they stand out)

I find myself saying this about a lot of hosting sites that come through here, but I'm finding that there are a lot of unanswered questions here. Do you support SSI? PHP? ASP? What kind of support to I get? Any kind of uptime guarantees? How can this be free? (I think a lot of webmasters, myself included, are getting really wary of free services - all the good ones never seem to be free for long.)

By the ways, I have psp7.0, but how do you make those images? I can't for the life of me make them(my last set of images were also made by someone else). I mean I know the basic effects(sunburst and illumination are my favorite, but what effects did you guys use to make those images?)

If a free hosting doesn't mention these, don't expect them to be there.

The graphics are up, but they look blurry.

I already sent you the HTML to fix that.

Pay attention to the image sizes.

I would get rid of the images on the left, even the ones I made for you.

If you go shellchoice.com you will notice that there are not duplicated menuing on the left for the same links that are at the top.

The site generally has a good starting point from what i can see. I'll throw out a few points that i believe need attention.

- Theres too much dead space at top left
- I think that the top navbar needs some kind of depth.
- The free in the logo needs to be increased in size.
- The left navbar needs to be brought up higher.

Thats all i can see at the moment, ill check again in the next few days and see what you have done with it.
