Here it is - my first flash site. It's a personal portfolio type site...

What do you think?

Megan,

I was actually just looking at your site yesterday. I really like it a lot. It's friendly, fun, and very well done. (I am so good at rhyming!)

I only have a few items to point out, the bug seems to fly around just a bit too long before your enter page comes up. But I waited because I really wanted to see what was going to happen.

Another item is the top nav buttons and their pulsing. I like the way they pulse but I am not so sure about how the blue background get's bigger too. It would be cool if just the text would pulse without the background.

One more thing, on your resume page - the other section. There is some text that seems to run together. I believe it says Alan Weeks... and First is kind of goofy. Also, your contact button doesn't do anything when clicked.

That's it. Great color scheme. I like the way the nav buttons pulse. Everything runs very smoothly and it's easy to get around.

I think it looks fantastic! I really should hurry up and learn flash.

Reminds me in a way of a site that I fell in love with a few months ago when I first came across it. The address is http://www.turtleshell.com and I'd love to think I could design a site like that one day. Although the site is very, very advanced, it has the same basic effect of using one image as the background which moves when you go somewhere else.

Café Home - Yet another personal website.
Britboard - Your resource for all things British.

Is anyone else having problems with that e-mail link? I've tried it on two computers and it works fine, but my mom also says that it doesn't work. Hmmm.... I'll have to put a link on the HTML page just in case.

I know I have to do something about the flying around at the beginning. That was originally going to be my preloader but I ended up not needing one. I still like the effect though, so I'll probably just end shortening it up somehow.

Thanks for your comments!

Megan,

Excellent site! I looked at it the day you posted this request but didn't post my review - After thinking about it, I felt I should come back and give you my opinion since you give so many to the community.

I really like the color (I designed a site with the same colors a while back, actually).

I have to agree with what Brooke pointed out... The butterfly flying to long wasn't too bad... But the "square" blue around the pulsating text at the top is something I would change.

And a suggestion not really related to the site: You might want to offer a MS Word copy of your resume... A lot of employers (ourselves included) look for Word resumes if sent online so they print well.

Overall, excellent site! Only wish I knew flash.

Like it a lot!

On the resumé page: It says there are three options, but I only see 2 buttons (flash and print). Also that text is not anti-aliased, the rest of the text on all the other pages actually is.

I've been expirimenting with Flash myself but I think I don't even have 50% of your Flash skills. How long did it take you to learn it?

Anyway, overall I think it is a great site.

Thanks guys!

The third option on the resume page was supposed to be an MS word version but I didn't know how I would link that up so I just took out the button but forgot to change the "three" to "two".

I don't know if you read my post about it awhile back but I was taking a digital media certificate program at community college (bit, fat waste of money for various reasons). Anyway, we had a lot of time to work on flash - about a month actually so I was able to spend a lot of time with it. That site is actually pretty simple as far as flash goes. If I didn't have wrist problems I would have been able to do a lot more. I have to find the time soon to get into ActionScript more (which is almost exactly like Javascript so it's really easy).
