LightScribeCovers.com
I am working on a redesign for a site of mine that has been up for about a year and a half.
Current Design: http://www.lightscribecovers.com
New Design: http://www.lightscribecovers.com/gallery
The site is built on the 4images script and the new design came from oswd.
Let me know what you think and any suggestions you may have toward the new design. Thank you.

Much much much better. So much lighter and cleaner. The look and feel is much more positive. Much better. The old one was so dark and cluttered with all those google ads.
The new design is also doing a better job of communicating what this site is about. I'm still a little confused, but the intro text is good and clear and I imagine any visitors to the site would have some idea to start with.
If anything, I think the logo could use some work. It's just a little bit too plain. Try adding an icon of some sort or using a more interesting font.
The new design is also much easier to use as well. So much easier to get right in there find the downloads.
Did I say that this is much better?

Wow thanks for that review Megan. Just reading what you wrote makes me feel 100% better about this redesign.

Oh, I should add that the download button is doing weird things in Opera. It looks like it's repeating where it's not supposed to or something.
In IE 6 the grey bar with the "subscribe now" link isn't lining up properly. The same thing is happening in IE 7.

Thanks for the opera issue. The subscribe now button in IE is an issue for me. It is due to IE lack of being able to comply with standards like Firefox does. It is aligned and built with CSS. I am probably going to have to due it with tables instead. It has been given me fits.

One thing you might want to research is the "has layout" issue in IE. Do a search - it can explain a lot of rendering problems in IE (if you understand it, which I barely do!)
ETA: Except that both of those elements "have layout" which probably doesn't explain it all... You could try changing the doctype too. With a transitional doctype the page is in quirks mode which can do weird things. Will check it in strict.
ETA 2: that's not it either. Could be just margins around the form or something. Ask in the HTML & Javascript area. BTW, if you're going to use CSS for layout you might as well get rid of all the depreciated tags like center and that Run a validator

I love the new look. It exudes professionalism to me.
If I was once a visitor to your site and I will see this new design, I will be amazed with its clean and crisp look.
Good luck to your new design! I love it

Sorry, mate... I'm getting 404 Not Found. The original isn't bad though. Maybe it needs some colour, but the navigation is OK.

Also getting 404 on the new one. As for the original seams a little gloomy at the bottom of the page mainly due to the black and white cds

If you make the ads more visible like changing the background colour, The site will look much better, When someone visit's that site for the 1st time they'll str8 away think its a google ghost site.

It's been a while since this Thread was started so I guess maybe you have completely moved to the new design at http://www.lightscribecovers.com because I could not find the new design but with this site I definately think you should move the google ads and probably change the background color of the site. At first glance I couldn't tell what your site was about to be honest it looks like just a bunch of ads and no conent. I think it would be better if you moved the ads and added some sort of welcome to the site message to help users get orientated to the site.
