I'm pretty happy with it thus far but how does it look to you all?
It's basically a revamp of a previous design and i've been working on it for some time.
Bit by agonising bit its getting there...could just do with some feedback though.
A few people have mentioned how the colours could do with a tweaking (e.g. the "tags: asides media music" and the links down the right) and how it's hard to read some of the text. Your opinions on this side of the design?
Comments, reviews, criticisms?

It all looked good until i scrolled to the bottom. Your 'Elsewhere' section goes into the background underneath the actual design... (Firefox)

First impressions - it looks like a site done in CSS (checks source, yep although your using trans when you could use strict)
The layout itself is not very browser friendly, there is a horziontal scroll bar at 800x600, but even with that things in the right column are misaligned or look like it (the [*] has a paragraph space before and after), as mentioned the elsewhere is to long for the layout and fades away into the blue (blue links on blue background ...)
Does the lo-fi, hi-fi work? clicking the links doesn't do anything in Firefox
The mouseover links at top are to small, easy to miss as they blend in to much, also the text displayed above it is unreadable as it's small black text on a pictured background.
You need a logo, an image, something to stand out and say "Hey this is me .." having a search at the very top is useless, first time there and I have a search, ok have no idea what your site is about but have a headache so lets search for that, no results, so normally I'd go as you have nothing I want as you didn't give me a chance to view your content. on the search results page you have "To navigate through the search results, please use the sidebar." but the side bar is blank, even with results (did a search for 'ok') the side bar just shows 'Previous Entries' with arrow pointing left.
Looking around the site you know what your doing, you've blended two sites yet you've let to much slide in doing so. Always harder doing your own sites.

The 800x600 thing is perfectly deliberate; I'm not the only site to do it these days, and it gives me room to manouvere. Plus, I'm working on a 1600x1200 screen, so tis to be expected from me really. Clicking Lo-Fi ought to do the business for you - works perfectly well for me, and is actually a piece of wordpress generated code - not mine.
You were also just unfortunate enough to see it when I was fiddling around with excerpts. I am experimenting with something but to be perfectly honest I like the layout as it is (in terms of the posts), whereas the new one would take it to a more professional approach.
As for the links at the top, never really looked at it that way but you do have a point there. Will definitely look into it.

In Opera it is very much misaligned. I'm assuming it is misaligned, otherwise it's just a poor design. The large teal boxes near the top of each page overlap the navigation and there is an odd section in the upper right-hand corner of the "banner" that has a white rounded rectangle with the opacity set lower so it makes that section lighter than the rest. It looks like some sort of text could go there, but there isn't anything...
Maybe the content isn't actually finished, but if it is, you need to rework it. Particularly the "About" page. It's a seemingly useless "funny" page. It doesn't actually provide any information about the site except the name of the author and the name of the website (which we already know...), and everything else is just some sort of attempt at humor. The teal box says you need to "write filler text to pad this out so it looks kinda realistic", and I hope you're referring to the content of the page, and not that particular box...but now I notice that on the "meta" page as well...I don't get it...
Like I said, there is no actual information about the site listed on the about page, so I can't quite figure out what your site's pupose, objectives, and/or overall goals are. Is it just a personal website, or is it some sort of organization, or what? I'd like some more information...
I hope I didn't offend you, and if I did, then you took this critique way too personally.

I find the site a bit cluttered and reckon it could do with a simpler layout and colour scheme.
Also, the page is extremely long, and this is probably due quite a lot to the line spacing. If you remove some posts and make the others take up less space, the site will seem far less daunting.
It would probably be better to spil the home page into smaller section of info.
Just my opinion... hope it helps.
Good luck with your site.
