learning html
Hi folks,
Brief intro:
Broke my pelvis etc and thought I would use the time off to learn
basic HTML, bought a book (HTML Goodies) and used the last six - eight
weeks learning and searching through magazines for links. Put together
my own personal link site using the free web space that came with my
Internet package. Built http://www.stewartys.co.uk. I now can sit at
the computer and surf the net to see what it's all about and see sites
that are being produced and think I should perhaps try again. I would
appreciate your comments (good and bad) It's not to your standards I
know but should I continue or put it in the bin?

It's ungodly slow [with my Cable it took about three minutes.] And that's always a minus.
When it finally did load it looked like some kind of template... not a good thing.
Since I didn't see an exact site, I can't review anymore.

1) Scrap the intro page. It serves no purpose, and it looks dumb with the 'holes' and the person smashing the page (!?!?).
2) I don't like how the logo extends onto the white part of the page. You can see the blue background around the letters, and it looks really tacky.
3) The left menu buttons look good, but they look a little stretched in my opinion. They all don't look the same width either. Just need to clean that up.
4) Ok, now the right side menu looks really unorganized. All the images are different sizes and aligned differently, etc. What you need to do is a) make all the right menu items the same exact size, and b) line them up so they're all even looking.

Like I said it was my first attempt, a learning project, my own home page where I may access useful links. No excuses though it's destined for the bin. The main page was just for when I access the net I could either enter or use a new URL.
