This is a re-lauch and a re-build from the ground up of a site I've been running for a long time.

It utilizes Flash (Swishmax) for interactivity, and Java for visual effects.

• One issue I know about is a typo on one word in the word search puzzle, I just haven't had time to fix the image and fix the .swf file yet.•

The image of the kids on the top right side of the home page is shocking and frightening. Other than that, it's great. The blue & yellow colors are nice. The layout is nice. The icons are good. Maybe the painting applet could use some more work. Did you create it yourself? It has some problems, such as you can paint over the controls. Also, the initial screen with the instructions has really small text. Maybe the applet can run in a bigger space? You could reduce your borders (the top & sides) to give it more room....

Shocking and frightening. That's funny.

All seriousness aside, I have to agree with aboyd. The site would look great, if it weren't for the kids looking scary.

I know some graphics programs (I use Paint Shop Pro Cool have a watercolor filter that makes images look like watercolor paintings. Maybe you could apply something like that to your original image.

Or, if you'd like, shoot the image over to me. ([email protected]) I can send you back a bunch with different filters on them, if you'd like.

Looks good! I like the way you've used clipart to identify the different sections. I do think the navigation is overkill though, with icons and two horizontal bars.

I was playing with the spelling application a little bit and I think it could use some work. The letters should snap into place when they are dropped. That's pretty easy to do - just reset the _y coordinate on drop. There should also be a check answer option and a way to generate a new puzzle. You could even refine this to have puzzles for different levels. The word search could work in a similar way. The more there is to do the more people will keep coming back.

ON the software page, I thought that the capabilities of the program should be emphasized over the freeness and easy download stuff (I'm sort of assuming that you must have had problems with people thinking that was going to be a problem)

Looking more closely, I think the colour on the logo is a little off. I think it should match the 'on' state for the navigation buttons.

Overall a good job though! I like the layout and the colours have a lot of punch.

very nice site for the kids. its cool that you have both stuff for them to do on the site as well as other programs they can download.

I agree about the picture of the kids though. they are scary looking... and is that a skulll in the background of that picture?

I would change a "kidweb" in the top - i don't like it, but I like the image in the right very much. Site is colourful and I suppose it should be like that Smiling What would I change? Maybe add border-top and border-bottom in top and bottom menus because when I hover it, it's getting blue like the main part of the page and seems a bit strange for me...
Footer - everything OK, code of the page could be better (Strict instead of Transitional).

But generally I like it !

Hi Roo!

It looks like a fun collection of pages for kids!

I agree that the title (the 'i' in Kids is hard to make out) and the filter applied to the kids picture might look better if it was reworked.

The spelling drag and drop is a bit confusing to me, as there is no feedback. If I can't spell, I'd like feedback saying when I got it right.

Similarly, the word search. If I find a word in the list, I'd like to see that acknowledged in some way, maybe tick off the word in the list. This would be a bit tricky with your current pencil-draw interface. Perhaps if the user dragged across the letters for a word you'd have an easier time.

Sometimes more choices can be more confusing than fewer, especially for younger visitors. At the moment you have the page choices across the top, across the bottom, on both sides, and in the center (which I personally find the coolest).

Hope this helps! Smiling

Okay the image if the Kids is what I was looking for as it's been mentioned to be before. I know I need to either re-work that photo from scratch or use something different. (No it's not a skull...it's a photo of my sister and cousin with the Easter Bunny when they were little)

I agree about the Spelling and Word Search puzzles, thing is I use Swishmax, and I don't know how to do these things or even if it's possible with SwishMax. (I asked about the Spelling Puzzle on the Swish Flashkit forums and nobody could answer my questions)

Change the pic. The navigation is justified because it frames the page so well. I'm bookmarking your page because I like to color online... I mean... oh screw it, we've all got secrets

Nice site, the picture of the kids does give the visitor a wrong impression. The graphics are nice...a work of "art" Smiling
