Juggle Chainsaws: An Adventure in NES Chronogaming
jugglechainsaws.com is a site that I've created to record my attempt to play every NES game released in the United States in roughly chronological order.
I used gray, white, black, and red for the colors because those are the colors on the NES. I know it's not the most exciting thing in the world, but it fits the subject rather well.
I know the logo at the top needs work. Probably going to start from scratch for that.
I went with a magazine style layout because I wanted people to get a quick view of the latest posts. One thing I don't like about it is that I don't think it's obvious enough that if the visitor clicks the image or post title that they'll go t the real post. I'm looking to see if it's possible to continue using the WordPress excerpt feature and still have something like the Read More link.
I'd really love to hear any thoughts people have. Good things are great, but I'd love it even more if you let me know about things I can improve. Seriously, rip the thing apart.

This looks very good! Did you design the theme yourself?
I was going to comment on the logo but it sounds like you're planning on changing that anyway. I think the magazine layout is fine. It's clear enough when you hover over the image and the header that they'll go to the main post. A read more link could still be helpful though.
What I'm finding abut this as I look at it is that the body of the page doesn't seem to fit with the header style. What I mean is that the header is darker and edgier looking, with the black, grey, and red, and the graphic motif in the background. In contrast, the body is sleeker and cleaner looking, with blue links and light gradients. I think it would be good to adjust the colours in the body area, and look for a way to repeat the dotted background motif in other areas (maybe just taking out one row of the dots going from larger to smaller, for example, and adding it to headings somehow).
It would be good to find some better thumbs up/ thumbs down images. Those are terrible. Maybe a star rating would be more elegant?

I like the layout of your site which is neat and tidy. In your site, you give a detail description to each post, thats may a good way i should learn a lot.
And what im finding is similar with Megan's above, the first big photo in your homepage doesnt so much fit with your other photos below. The first photo is only with dark, white, and grey color which seems a bit pale. I think its may better to add some bright color.
Otherwise, this is a good looking site.

Love the concept! Definitely a fun web page and it is obvious right away. The theme is appropriate for the concept/viewing audience and I love how it gives the retro/throwback feel of the older gaming consoles.
Good to see that you have some ads up there to generate revenue, as you've obviously invested a fair amount of time into the content/idea of the site.
Nicely done!
