I'm new to web design, this is my first real site. Still lots to do but i'd like an honest assesment of things so far,
Thanks.

Nice, but the mouseover color is a little hard to read.

I would say that you need to loose the animated blue Register - it looks awful. Generally though I like the look of the site but your graphics need some major work. To do moving banners well they need to be very good. On yours the text looks blocky and I think it's too much to have both of them animated. They just don't appeal to me and I think spoil what could be a very nice looking site. (Don't mean to be too hard on you as it's your first siet as it is actually very good)

As a newcomer we do ask that you participate in other threads in this forum as not only will it help others to get a fresh pair of eyes on their sites and it will also help you get a feel for what others are doing and the general trend of what people like/dislike.

Thanks for the review. Can i just say in my defence the big banner on my page i threw together in a few mins, only to temporarily fill the space, will be an advertising banner there eventually. I do plan to remove the animated register button, i hate it myself. Gybro, what's your setup when having probs with the mouseover color? Is the text really hard to read? I have no probs at all.

Thanks.

celticking,

I like what you have done. Especially I think it is very clear, you have implemented a few nice touches well, and it is pleasing visually. Also the site name is great.

About the register button - something more like the ones at http://www.ecx.com/index.html would be good.

The problem for me with the mouseovers is that blue does not look good contrasted with red, and it's too dramatic in the overall context of your design. I would suggest that, for example, if it just changed to underlined text on mouseover that would be in keeping with the overall mood of your design.

I think that if I were in the movie business I would want to know 'who' you and your community are. I want to know what movies you make, what movies you love.

On a personal note, I would really appreciate your view on my site - Further improvement needed... .

Not bad at all. I like the clean simple layout.

One little thing that irked me was that the text on the navigation bar wasn't centered properly on my browser.

Have you played about with different fonts?
