Hi! Please review my homepage
Hi all
First time in these forums, I just found the link, but now I'll start browsing them often, as I'm an active webmaster
Anyway, can you please have a look at my homepage?
It's for a game-clan (i.e. a group of players teaming up in a computer game), and I'd like to improve it if you guys have any suggestions!
The link is http://www.clanefl.com
Thanks in advance

Hi, Nice site, it's really got the look of a gamers site and the flash intro is quick loading and good.
A couple of things though. After the flash intro you can't click on it to access the site, you have to click skip intro so it's a little confusing. Also the first page is a little slow loading. Perhaps try and cut down the size of the main logo a little, 50k at present. I personally found the flash in the top left of the page a little annoying after a while, but that's probably just me.
Otherwise great site!

I agree with bertik on everything.
I feel there are too many links on the home page - I wouldn't have all the subcategories listed.
Give your text in the boxes more breathing room - they are up against the edge right now.
The yellow text on the orange is hard to read.
I really detest frames - but that is personal prefernce.
The headers should all be the same.
That flash is really starting to bug me too - maybe it should not repeat so fast...
Good job!
Brooke

Ok I am sure I wont be the only one to say this but, that constant animation on the homepage will get annoying to users real quick. There are also way to many links to follow, if you can i would maybe make them expanding links, like the ones that if clicked on a menu will drop down. Or Give each of the catagories thier own page with the appropiate links on that page instead of all on the first page.
Your Flash is cool, and everything else seems ok with me.

Thanks for the feedback everyone - really appreciated
I'll do something about the menu, not sure what yet, but I'll think of something..
Hmm... was the yellow text hard to read? Never heard that one before, but I'll make the orange darker, so it gets more visible.
But I'd appreciate one more piece of advice...
What do you think I should do with the (appaerently annoying ) flash in the top corner?
Only repeat it a few times? Make a stop button on it? Repeat it slower? Or? (I'd rather not remove it completely )
[EDIT]
(I've tried to post a new message, but only get a "Cannot find the server" error, so I'll try to modify this msg instead)
OK - an e-mail has been sent to the "flash-man"
I've given the text in the boxes some more air (simply used some cellpadding), but I just realized a change that would make the homepage so much better (in my opinion, that is, what do you think?).
What I'm talking about is the textboxes on the page.. As of now they are completely rectangular, but I know there is a way to make the corners "rounded off". Question is: how? Do I have to use some sort of Javascript, or are there any HTML coding that will do the trick?
Thanks again

I would make it loop only a couple times.

hi, cool website
i am not very familiar with gamers websites, but this one has attracted my attention. though i couldn't really have a clear idea what the website is about when i got there(except what u explained here in the forum). so i think it would be a good idea to give a small introduction in the front page about the site, how does it work ... just to clarify things.
and it would be nice to be directed to the front page after the flash introduction

Not too bad. The FEAR THE POWER thingy needs to go though. The pulsing initials (EFL) and the bar under the page header are enough movement for the page.
The text on the links is a bit hard to read and the buttons look sort of jammed up together. That is a neat rollove effect you have there. I like the graphics at the top too.
You should probably pad your table cells that you have in the body. The text is crammed up against the edge of the blue table.
On the members page where you have name, nation, birthdate, ICQ, etc.....those are a little hard to read also. The font color maybe should be lighter.

If it wasnt a gaming site I'd say loose the flash intro, but if its for a selected group then cool, but if i was to return to the site every day or few days i'd soon get sick of clikcing skip intro.
That flash image thing is a pain in the butt, at least if it was a animated gif i could stop it, but its flash and i cant
I only went to one page cause that animated thing got to me, the maps page has a vertical scroll bar in the top right frame.
No offense but I think this site is a case of "just because you can, doesnt mean you should"
you have a lot of links, a good reason to not limit the height of your site, if the top section scrolled up, not only would i have to get annoyed with the flash but would get to see more info without scrolling (people hate to scroll), another reason for no (or limited) frames is quicker loading times, this site isnt to bad loading speed thou.
If I was you, I'd convert it to no frames site and in doing so could get away with such a long length of links
at least give them a link to disney.com or something lol

Hmmm, If you are sure only a select number of people are going to use it then fine but if you want to attract new users and get it into the search engines then 'get rid of the frames'. One thing I don't like is a frame site at 800*600 that I need to scroll to see all the links then scroll the other side to see all the content. If you are going to keep the frames reduce the number of links and put some content in the noframes section.
The flash on the first page should really auto-redirect to the main page once finished as it isn't really clear when the intro is finished and then to have to press skip intro when it has is confusing.
The flash on the second page is very annoying and personally I think it makes the page look too overpowering. I'd get rid of it. Note :you can stop it by right clicking on it & untick play.
To round off the corners of the tables you would have to create some graphics to do it, there is no code for this.
On the links the orange text is hard to read over the orange/yellow line behind it. I'd use a completely different colour for the text to make it stand out more.
The members page is too hard to read at all so I gave up!
All the competition links (except calendar) open another site within your frameset so major scrollbars going on here!
Make sure you pad out all the other pages tables so that the text isn't running up against the sides.
Good site generally though.
Can you help us out as well, as we do ask that you review some of the other sites posted here for critique. It also helps you get ideas and see what others are up to.
