Hi,
Sorry for asking for critique again without criticizing other people's sites, but I'm afraid I might be offending other people (like in the BT vs. UBB thread).

I would like you to check out http://polpus.hypermart.net/polpus and tell me what you think of the look and feel of the site. It would also be nice if you sincerely tell me if you would purchase any of the design packages if you didn't know anything about html and web design.

P.S: The code is very messy, it just had the basic tags cause i made it real quickly. I will be modifying the code very soon.

Hi. You might consider changing the background color. Other than that, it looks pretty good, and if I didn't know anything about web design yours might be one I would consider Two suggestions, though:

1. The popup looks very unprofessional. I would insert the <!--#echo banner="" --> on the top of your pages instead.

2. I wouldn't count on getting many hosting orders, because you are hosted on Hypermart, a free hosting company itself, which doesn't really say much for the quality of the web hosting you will be providing

Hey!!! I rather enjoy your input, please don't stop. I've been having fun following the "who do I choose" discussion .

I really like your logo, nice colors/shape.
I think your body text would look better left aligned, the force justify leaves lots of space "rivers" between your words. A little more distracting for me then a ragged right edge.
I would not have an extra space between your headings and paragraph text, but keep the space between categories.

The features you have that I would be interested in if I were shopping for web design are:

"If you desire, you can draw the layout for your site and we will make it reality! Just draw it in paper, scan and send it to us ... we will do the rest."

It's nice to give them some control

"Friendly support"

Very important to me personally -- people WILL pay more for good service

"Fully enhanced sites"
"Our packages include not just the html creation, but also custom graphics, javascript and cgi development to fit your needs"

looks good to me!!!

"Inexpensive hosting"
good feature but I haven't read you "fine print" yet.

The thing that I would QUESTION if shopping for web design on your site is:

Quick Solutions
"Whether you need a small or a big site, we can make it really fast and very effectively. We can make an entire site within 1-3 hours from contacting the customer."

This basically says that you are capable of creating custom graphics, putting together a very large corporate site complete with shopping cart and more CGI/JAVA scripting in 1 to 3 hours!!!!

Could you please mail me a dose of your plutonium????

I would re-word that, at least remove the 1-3 hours part it sounds like you're
1. sitting around waiting for a job (able to drop everything and perform at a moments notice) -- the busier you appear the more desirable your services.
3.can throw something together that may not be be very high quality
2. you may get "caught" making a promise like that if you can't follow through -- people are more then happy to share a "bad" experience, as you well know .

Working in printing for so long (not exactly the same as web design but similar) I've noticed one thing. Besides great service customers want:
1. high quality
2. speed
3. low prices
don't promise more then "two" of the above items for any one job.

take care,

Thank you all for your recommendations!!
As for the popup and hosting thing, I just uploaded it to Hypermart temporarily to get some advices, I plan to get a virtual/dedicated server and do hosting separately too.

I actually did the entire site (polpus designs) in less than 10 minutes

Nice site but you should insert a header and everything that goes with it like a title and meta tags.

And another thing:

tell your visitors what CGI or JavaScripts are. They might not know and they might even be impressed what fancy things you can make.

I would also think about selling a support or maintenance package.

Hi,

1. the popup-thing was already mentioned ... kill it.
2. the "yellow" in the logo doesn't match the "yellow" in the text. the (light-)yellow "designs" on the white background hurts my eye.
3. the "Pink" (is it pink) in the logo looks ... hmmm ... washed out ... try the red from the headings. this would "unify" the design.
4. some years ago i wrote a small style-guide ("gute seiten schlechte seiten"). one of the things NOT to do was Click-Here-Links.
(The Order-Form-Link on the second page is much better.)

5. are you sure you can gurantee the prices ?

quote:
... the project won't be finished until you are completely satisfied.

For 30$ I could invest 20 minutes (at most).
(And only if I don't count resources I need.)

ciao
