Finally finished : EssaySwap.com
Man (and woman), after months of intense programming, I've finally finished the site for Essay Swap. There are a couple of rules, so please give me feedback on what you think.
All essays are free, and you can view 3/day no problem. On the fourth, I require that an essay be submitted on your behalf so that 1. the database grows 2. no one mooches off the system too much. So far we went up last Sunday and things have gone very well. Please provide feedback on the design, layout, and rules if you get a chance.

Looks great!
On all of the pages that are not full length...I think instead of having a big chunk of black with the copyright there you should continue witht he light grey or just bring the table up so that the footer is always the same height.
Also on the main page, those links on the bottom underneath the papernerd ad...I think they should just change color or whatever, not go bolded and expand because hovering over them it makes the wobble.
Also the wish list link yields this message.
Warning: Failed opening '../subs.php' for inclusion (include_path='.:/usr/share/pear') in /home/httpd/vhosts/snrinfo.com/httpdocs/essayswap/index.php on line 4
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: initialize_dbi() in /home/httpd/vhosts/snrinfo.com/httpdocs/essayswap/index.php on line 5
Maybe you shouls have an error page that is custom to your site and so when you have a php error it goes to that instead of these messages..not sure if its possible but it would be cool.
Other than that great site, especially like the hand graphic (logo) and the nerd pictures .

Thanks for the feedback. As for that link problem, it's an affiliate site, so I don't think I can do anything about the bad link. I'll work on ending that table tonight so that the copyright shows up without all that black stuff. I meant to do that earlier...geez. The link suggestion is also noted. I'll see if I can't fix that too. Once again, THANKS A LOT!!!

Oh...I see what you mean about the wish list. I didn't even look at where it pointed to, just noted that there was an error.
One other thing I just though about is how about having a most popular essay topics underneath of the access essays search field where American History currently resides. Not sure if its possible but since its all php it is possible.

I'm gonna add links to the other popular categories tonight under the main search box. I guess a site's never *really* done. Just always "almost" done. I can't seem to get the bottom copyright line to break away from the main part of the page, so the black's gonna stay for a while. I may add line breaks to even it out a bit.
Thanks again.

As a Language Arts/English teacher I simply have to say that you should be flogged.
Students do not learn by plaigirising the work of others.

I agree. I am going to refrain from reviewing this site for ethical reasons.

Listen to all floggers (whatever in the heck that is), your opinion on the design should not be influenced in any way by what the site is all about. The site is made by students, for students and whether you agree with it, the site was not started to encourage plagarism in any way. It was merely started to assist those who don't write well from a blank sheet of paper (myself included). In order for you to even browse more than 3 essays, you have to submit a legitimate paper which I proofread and approve nightly myself.
Please, review and critique the design.

Overall looks clean and professional I think that's the #1 concern.
For some reason I was bothered by the 50/50 vertical split. Maybe it was just because I never saw a page layout like that before but I think it was confusing to the page flow. It's too evenly balanced so you can't tell where the main content area is, which means you can't tell where you're supposed to instictively look. And the two evenly balanced people images doesn't help this either. Drop one.
When I go down just a little I see equally prevalant text links on both the left/white and right gray side. The set on the left are partners but the right are the important browsing links. I think something needs to be done to easily distinguish the browsing links. I think they would go much better higher up before the 'page fold'. You don't want people to need to scroll down before seeing how to browse the subjects. By the way, what's the diffence beween Access Essay and Power Search? Do you need both?
(Now that I've reviewd the design, I must also join others in denouncing the content.)

Thanks for the comments. The page split comments are well received (as is the denoucing , thanks.
Yeah, I know the page is a bit wierd in its layout, but that's because everything to the left (minus the login) is external to the site (including the Power Search) and all things are the right are internal to the site (including the Access Essays). I guess I could have flip-flopped them, but I needed a bit more space for the external stuff.
Thanks again.

All the pages look the same except for the Wish List page. I think that consistency is good so maybe you cout put that in with the other layouts. The rest of the site is fine. Great work!!!

Hello, i think you have a nice looking site, you have done a good job.
As far as the content goes, it searves a purpose, a good one at that.
For the teacher and others that disagree, look at it this way, the students that can write essays will still write them, and the students that cant, can visit this site and learn tips, yes they can copy the essays, but if the teacher doesnt notice this, then the teacher needs flogging not the student.
Good luck with your site.
