Female Celebrity Wallpapers - www.oldsocks.co.uk
After weeks of image manipulation my Female Celebrity Wallpapers Site is taking some shape. I am looking for a little help here.
The site design is supposed to be simple and too the point - my aim was to shy away from the normal celebrity wallpaper sites that plaster themselves with advertising and make finding anything real difficult.
Currently there are only 3 pages - the home page - the search page and a contact page. This is my first effort at scripting away from html.
What I would like is for people to do some testing on speed for me. Please search for the phrase Pamela Anderson and tell me how many seconds it takes to find the correct results.
It started off lightening fast - I fear as it now contains over 10,000 wallpapers and 600 celebrities it may be slowing down.
I figured that if people are looking to discover new celebrities that they don't know the names of my site is useless, so i wanted to add a directory to it, listing all the celebs contained within the search engine. The easiest way to do this would be to link direct to the search results - however I am having trouble determing what the link would actually need to be.....
I thought to link to pamela anderson results it would be something like-
[url]www.oldsocks.co.uk/search.php?pamela anderson[/url]
Quite clearly it isn't - so if anybody could shed some light on how I can actually link direct to a search result page, that would be great also.
Also - where do I go from here? What features do you think would be usefull for people on a celebrity site? All suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I like the idea of this... I'd been toying with it myself i'd collected loads of wallpapers over my yrs on the net and thought about doing a repsoitory...
How are you handling using other peoples work? & are you gonna accept submissions? I can think of some girls who you're missing.

I've still to add an upload feature so people can upload their wallpapers to the correct place.
If you would like to send me some via email - [email protected] then I would gladly accept them and put them in the database.
What celebrities am i missing? - over 500 in their my heads spinning with all the names.

Looks good. It took me 23 seconds to get Pam up but I'm on a T1 line here. The biggest thing you need here is a better logo (and some sort of connection between "Old Socks" and celebrities.)
Edit: 23 seconds is how long it took for the page to completely load.

I was actually contemplating sending an old smelly sock to every celebrity that did something dumb - like britney spears getting married - i thought it might raise a bit of publicity.
Would cost me a lot of socks with all the dumb celebs out there.
Yea the logo is pretty basic - Artwork isn't my thing though - so if anyone fancies having a go

The index page IMO is to simple and plain, maybe some intro text or something (will also help search engines).
I didn't want to look for pam (not my cup of tea) but then thought, hmm who could I search for, tried some but realised I don't know how to spell their names, maybe include a site map or list of woman who you have.
I tired to find a common name (ended up with christ) it came back with lots of results, Christina Aguilera, Christina Applegate, Christina Milian, Christina Phillips and others, lots of results and I actually lost track of how many pages in I went, maybe if results have more than two people, just show the names of the girls so people can just choose the one they wanted. Mind you, I supose some guys wouldn't mind going thru them all

A picture of one of the "famous" girls in nothing but a pair of old socks would make an excellent logo
do you reckon u could get one of them to pose for it.
Sadly in a fit of i don't know what i deleted most of my wallpapers. If/when i get round to making some more i'll be happy to submit them to you...

FYI:
I found what appears to be an error, here is how I was able to recreate it:
I went to your site, and did a search for something it found (ie. Pamela Anderson). It brings up the page of results. Then on that page, enter a name that has no matches. (I did a search for Jewel). Now the page comes up saying No Files could be found, however the navigation buttons from Pam are still there, and if you click on them, then you get several errors.
I agree with Busy, how about a link for listing all names in case we just want to browse.

Ive taken a look and I see what I did wrong - I'll get that fixed in a jiffy.
Im currently in process of creating the directory with all names in it - just linking direct to the search results - but it will allow you to browse - it seems to be the most requested feature.
