Feedback please...
Hey,
we just got done with a new site:
www.parma-aurel.de
Please tell me if you like the design.
Do you guys think the better design at the prize of higher loading time is worth it?
Thank You,
Malte

The only thing that I dislike on the page is the
onmouseover effect. I do not like the blured text in the background of the image.

Wow- a nice quality site. What can I say?
• Good use of frames. It might be the best I have seen. I hardly noticed!
• One thing I did notice, which is not wrong, but you have to scroll on a 640x480 res. if you care. When I had that size I DID care...
• I like the mouseover image flip effect. It's original and I like it.
• One thing I notice about all the sites you guys design is that the loading time is a little long. This site is just on the edge of being to long, but I think the great look makes up for it.
Overall I think it's a great site, uh, even though I can't read it!

Thanx for the great feedback. I'll forward it to the other programmers/designers.
The site will be co-branded soon for their company's 650 franchises. All will have some own content content mixed with this site. So, there is still some work to do left.
You're right we decided at some time, to ignore everybody with resolutions below 800X600 because they make out such a small part of the visitors. We always make our navigations frames non-scrollable which creates the problem that users with low resolutions cannot see all menu points.
You probably didnt notice the frames because were are always trying to fit the whole page on one screen, so you dont have to scroll, and see everything at once.
Later,
Malte

I liked it too. The only thing is I am 800x600 and I had to scroll. It looks good I don't like the top how it is blurry though. Good job otherwise.

Me too, I like it!
1. The intro takes too long! I will never wait that long.
2. Using 600 x 800 I have to scroll too. The reason is my SmartSuite menu bar (others might use the office menu bar). However it doesn't disturb too much.
3. Due to the products you are offering, the appeal is important! The pictures load fast enough (may be too slow for 28K access. I'm in Europe and have 64K access).
4. The mouseover effect couldn't have been done any better (however, I'm not a graphics designer or expert).
5. The use of frames is perfect!
6. The site looks the same and works perfect with different browsers (tested MSIE 5.0 and Netscape 4.72).

I like most of the sites you design, this one being no different. Only thing I don't like is the blurred effect on the mouseovers... If you just left the box around the image without the blured text I think that would be fine... Other than that, though, I like it.

I didn't like the mouseovers either. Maybe if that blurred text was in another colour or something it would be better.
As for your loading time it really depends who your audience is. Will they have dial-ups? Will they mind waiting? If not then it's not that big of a problem. It is a little slow for me here though (on a T1) You could probably stand to lose some of the graphics and use some CSS to create nice text effects instead.
Overall I just don't know how I feel about this. Too many graphics for my taste, but, of course, that's a personal opinion.
