European Web Site

Hi All,

I was hoping for some ideas or inspiration from you guy's. I have been requested to develop a front end for a web site and not quite sure of any ideas.

This website is to deal with European Police College's here is a URL to further info:

The customer requires a nice front end, which provides a user login section and links to a knowledge base and possible other countries web sites. I thought of ideas such as the European flag, or a map of Europe but these have been used to many times and he want's something unique.

Does any one have any ideas graphically of a front end design for this type of web site?

I would be very grateful for any ideas.

Maybe you could start out with a nice graphic - maybe images of sirens, police officers, things like that. Integrated together with some gradient masking effects so they kind of blend. If you're not going to have too much information on the page you could go with a splash page type look with the login form and links incorporated.

Maybe something like the Bermuda writers page that was posted here awhile back.... can't find the link right now (gotta go, my nieces are here )

This is your second site that you are asked us to review but not once have you helped us out by reviewing other sites. It really is just a courtesy to help others.

Anyway, this site looks much worse than the other that you posted. I had no doubt when I saw it that it was Frontpage. I don't really see much there that I would keep but here is some things to do:

Get rid of that annoying background with the stars. I would have a solid background and put some pictures that on the site that are relevant.
You have three icons at the top for Polizei-Führungsakademie , etc. Only two are active. Also people are not usually smart enough to figure that they are links unless you also hyperlink the text below them. Another thing that is bad is that the two sites linked to look better than your site.
Registration Form - why not use an online form rather than on that people have to print and fill out by hand.
About the course - this page looks awful too with the gray on yellow on white. Also the text has got gutter hang, which means it hangs right on the edge of the table. You should pad the cells to prevent this.

I would rethink the site if it were me.

I agree with what's been said and you definitely need to have a logo to give the site some identity. At the moment it just looks like it's all been chucked onto the page in a real hurry.

I want to apologise for not contributing to review other individual’s web sites. It was not international that I wasn't contributing just hadn't had the opportunity.

Personally I agree totally about the design of this website seems like it's been thrown together with FrontPage.

This I will state is NOT a site designed by myself. I have just been left with this to come up with some other design. Just so you know that I didn't design this mess.

I thank you for all your help and advice much appreciated.

Had a look at the site and have to agree with everyone else. Had a spare half an hour so I optimised most of your code and removed those terrible frontpage extras.

As was said above, you need a logo or some graphics to enhance the site a bit.
