Not bad looking, but I'm not sure ripping icons out of window's XP is a good way to prove you know how to design websites. Also, your main text is a bit pale. I know black is often to heavy, but that grey is too pale. Try and find a middle ground if possible.

Welcome to TWF, fastball! Thanks for looking at some other sites first Smiling

I'm not sure I agree about the icons. I don't have XP in front of me right now so I can't compare - are they exactly the same? They do look cute though. Mouseovers of some sort would be a nice addition.

I definitely agree about the text. It's also too small to be read comfortably. Remember that not everyone is as young and well sighted as you are. Who is your target audience? My guess is that most of them are probably over the age of 45. How many people in that age bracket need reading glasses? Most of them. Make your text easy for them to read. The logo tagline has a similar problem. It's so pale that it's almost unreadable.

When I click on the Designs page, I am a little confused. I see some text, but no links to take me to the acutal content. Make sure your links look like links and not the same as plain text!

The contact us link should go to a page with detailed contact information - mailing address, fax, phone number etc. Not an e-mail link. If you're just providing an e-mail link, make it say "e-mail" instead of "content". I would also argue that you'll get more respect as a business if you have a street address and phone number to provide.

On the "about" page, but in something more interesting than your stats. It's good to be upfront about who you are, but at the same time you need to present a businesslike image. Talk about how long you've been designing websites, what your design philosophy is, things like that. Talk about what you can do for the client.

Overall this is a nice design. I like the look and feel. It's nice and light. Usability is good and you've got a good logo. Great start.

WOW!! thanks for the great review...you have definetly helped me out a bunch, and i will make the changes shortly. how about having the text darket but the links this color? and all of it a notch bigger?

I was told that the repeating icons didnt look all that good and that when the visitor visits a page it would look good if the main icon would drop below the blue line a little. What do you guys think?

about ripping the icons off of XP...i didnt! The only ones from XP that i used was the designs icon and the arrow on the ok button.

Couldn't agree more with regard to the contrast on the site... darken that text. I'm struggling to view your site on my laptop (or maybe that is just my poor old eyes)!

Dropping the main icon below the blue line? mmmm there's no doubt that "overlapping" images removes the tabular feel from a site. I didn't notice this as an issue with your site...your icons already sit proud of the backdrops and break up the look and feel nicely.

All you really need now is content.

(BTW... as a design site, you maybe should include really top notch designs you have developed yourself and maybe resource information to design articles?)

I gotta agree a bit with the first post, I like the site and it seems like it would be cool, but the first page and the menu doesn't really send me anywhere to see the templates and the writing is too hard to follow in such small grey writing..

But the thing still looks really good

I agree with everyones comments about the design. Nice overall.

My thoughts are about your marketing. Your Web site has very little content to it. I can't stress enough how important good content is for a Web site, especially when your goal is to sell something to a complete stranger. The content should answer their questions and make them feel like they can trust you. Not to mention, keyword rich content is essential for high rankings in the search engines. Depending on how you plan on advertising, this may or may not be important to you. More than likely it is.

Although the content is interesting and I would probably spend some time here the entire package is slightly colorless and so translates as a little boring or maybe just too quiet...maybe I've just been looking at too many bells and whistles today. Quiet can be good too..

The text font is a little too small and it should be a darker black. Other than that, the site is very nice.

Here is my overall assesment (I am not a talented web-designer)-

The font is small and light colored, the icons look a bit hokey. There is too much white on the pages. IE, not enough content.

The site looks very nice otherwise, and was easy to navigate. It also loaded rather fast on a slow connection.

Over all good job, with some minor changes and some additional content you have a winner!

Looks really good. I like the mirror effect below the upper menu!

I think these are the sort of icons I need on my site. More appealing.
I think the text should be darker.
Perhaps a seperator between the content and the right side.
Nice though!

I very much like the icon theme. The way you've done the tabs, and the menus on the side are excellent.

I am seeing some very light imagey underneath the main bar though.....looks like somthing was supposed to be erased, but wasn't erased all the way.

I agree about content though. The content is too sparse for the design IMO.

You need a bit of tweakage:
From what I'm seeing - 800 X 600 with Opera 6.5 - There needs to be a lot of padding between the main content area and the sidebar menu area...it's all too close and squishy.

The font size is way, way too small. Also there should be some space between the headings and the paragraphs. The heading should also be a bit bigger font size than the paragraph text.

The members tab up top....is redundant...you have the member login right below it.

If you:
Use a bigger font
Add some padding
Use H1 - H2 etc. etc.
Make the headings a bit bigger than the paragraph text
This will all help to space out your content, so it filles up all of that negative space better.

You could even just add padding to the left content area only so that section will not be hitting the right sidebar.

I would definitely change the phrase after your logo to state more clearly what you do (e.g. web design, not just "design"). Also, the "head" icons look kind of generic and a bit too close to windows type icons. You might also want to try using bullets in your list of services, in order to draw more the reader's attention to the text.

Your icons are great. Yes, of course as everyone has said your text is too light and too small. You need a gallery! Repeat. You need a gallery! I wouldn't allow anyone to do anything for me without first seeing what they are capable of. If someone is on the net then they want information now! Add the gallery with some of your work. Just pick the five or so best that you have done. Don't over do it. Don't forget to darken your logo type, as well. Great overall design, though.
